There are a few on display, one in Chicago I believe, but even if one had the $$$ to buy an old diesel/electric sub, restoring/maintaining it would be extremely costly..

actually, as a Silent Hunter III fan, I can say that the boat you linked was very rare.

Apart from docking it somewhere public and charging people money to tour it there really isn't much you could do with it. Maybe gut it and make a floating home out of it? Probably be like living in a small RV without the windows.

And would you trust 60 yr. old valves, welds, ect enough to actually submerge in it? not to mention the cost of new batteries!.

I am a SH3 fan myself, I recommend the "Grey wolfs" expansion pack, makes for long load times but improves the game immensely..

That's a deal, of course people are forgetting a WW2 style sub typically had a crew of 50, it's not something a single person could operate..
