Buy USED PC game not

Just curious. I saw a used PC copy of Far Cry for sale on Ebay. I thought the registration/download precluded the ability to re-sell used PC games.
If someone bought a used game, I thought they would not be able to register or play it. Am I wrong?

Are you just talking about a key, or the actual discs? I gave my disc copy away and they used it without issue.

The disc. But don't you have to register the key from the disc? And if it's already registered to someone else, I thought that voided the game.

The original farcry did not ask for a key on instalation as far as i remember, only to get access to the multiplayer

I think Far Cry 3 gets registered through Uplay. So you need a valid key. If I recall correctly.

This is true, so I imagine that means you cannot sell it to anyone else.

Are you talking about Far Cry or Far Cry 3? You need to be more specific.

Far Cry, the original, released in 2004, didn't have any DRM nonsense on the disk, at least not beyond a CD Key, which should/would be provided.

Far Cry 3 is going to be another story entirely.

Runz, if it's a used copy of Far Cry you're looking at, you should be able to play it fine.

If it's Far Cry 3, then stay away.

It was the last of an era for Ubi. The clean, reasonable era.
