I had plan to wait until the e6750 is released and get it then. But with ddr2 667 memory prices falling and what I feel is close to bottoming out I'm tempted to buy the e6600 now.
yes I know I can buy memory now and wait 3.5 months(assuming they don't push it back) and get the e6750 but I hate to spend money on something and it can't be used for that long of a period. Up to 4 weeks is okay especially as I wait for parts to come in and have time to put it all together.
I do not overclock. Thus I had figure I'll get more of my money's worth with the e6750. and by then prices on other parts would also drop(besides memory)
- the usual office applications.
- some video editing,
mostly home video stuff typical when we go on vacation to somewhere we don't go often. so that's about once every summer.
- lite to medium gaming.
I got a free copy of C&C 3 so that for sure I'm hoping to play. Supreme Commander also looks interesting. Maybe future titles like Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. Besides those I'm still playing civilization 3.
- last about 5 years in terms of useability. Of course I don't expect it to be able be in the top range but relatively in the middle. Sorta like my P4. it can do what I want but of course is showing its age.
As for rest of the system right now I plan
2 to 4 gigs of memory depending on price
some video card that's in the 150 to 200 dollar range. I'll upgrade later down teh road as more dx10 games come if I'm still playing PC games at that point.
Sorry for the long post. any help would be appreciated.
