Buy item at Amazon, price drops a few days later, can you get a refund of the difference?

Is it free return if your reason for return is "found better price elsewhere?" Or do you get charged for return shipping?

Free shipping if I return to Whole Foods or Amazon Drop center, either is close to me and not out of my way, I'm doing the latter after I receive the replacement, which is the one I figure to return. Meantime, I have the first.

I got the hardcover calvin and hobbes in Jan 2009 but it was US$95

Hardcover of The Complete Far Side is said to be difficult:

Too big for anything but coffee table type usage.

Many reviews complain that the illustrations have too much white space surrounding, simply a waste of space and weight. The several years subsequent paperback version addresses these concerns, is cheaper as well.

I know you can return for free to Whole Foods, Kohls, Amazon Drop center, and UPS if you have valid reason. I was just curious if Amazon counted "found better price elsewhere" as valid reason for free return. Because Amazon does charge for return shipping if it's not under one the reasons Amazon considers valid and eligible for free return shipping.

I think that's the reason I gave and I am getting free shipping. Don't have to box and label, etc. just drop off and show the QR code they gave me. I have Prime (which I intend to cancel in a month or so), but have no reason to think that factors into this.

Last year I ordered an i7 cpu, MB and 500GB NVME drive from Amazon. I saw a better deal on newegg on one or more of the parts so I asked for a price match. They refused so I sent it all back and bought it from newegg. I also ended up with the K version of the CPU instead of the F version at a much better price. Amazon lost $564 that day.
