Her plan is up in a month and I just logged into Verizon's website and she's able to renew at the discounted pricing. If I were to buy a phone right now for her it would be the Incredible just because I've heard great things about it, seems to be a great 'chick' phone and she liked it when we saw it in the store.

Would it be dumb to get the phone now since there are new phones within the next couple months coming out? Is there a phone with similar style/function of the Incredible that is coming out very soon? If there isn't, I'd probably just get it now, but if there is like a Incredible 2 or something coming out soon I'd probably wait for her.

Also, just for functionality use... she mainly:
- texts
- facebook
- web browsing
- some pictures

If she had the capabilities of a droid, I could see adding:
- some games
- video chat (skype?)
- music maybe

Thanks!

Its rumored that the incredible 2 is coming out in less than a month.. I'd wait and get that.

I've not heard much about the Inc S yet, I know it'll have more RAM and is supposed to have a larger screen, what else is new?

If your wife is big into texting would she want a keyboard? The Droid 2 might be worth a look as well.

Oh, I didn't realize Inc 2 != Inc S.

Yeah I think they are basically the same though, just that one is intended for Europe.

I'm actually really considering the Inc2, I love my incredible but I would like a larger screen. I'll most likely not have 4G in my area for at least a year so that doesnt' concern me anyways.

Yeah, there'll be no LTE here for quite a while. Specs on the Inc 2 do look pretty good, only wish it used the new PowerVR GPU that's in the iPad 2. That thing's a hoss.

FWIW, my wife just got a Thunderbolt yesterday and loves it. You do have to get use to the 4.3" screen though, there are times when she wishes she could touch any part of the screen with her thumb while holding it in one hand, but can't. Doesn't fit in her pocket well either (coming from a Droid Eris). But in the end, 4.3" is so much nicer to look at, and obviously, the LTE is great.

Even if you don't have LTE in your area now, I don't understand why someone would buy a new non-LTE Verizon smartphone. Most of the country will have it in a year or two and there is no comparison on how much faster it is.

I have the Incredible and love it. I use Swype on it for texting, and it is rooted with CyanogenMod 7. I keep all of my MP3's on it and have it set up in my truck. The speeds are fast enough for me, and battery life is good. The GPS is awesome.

Just keep in mind that there is ALWAYS something newer and greater just around the corner....
