Buy eVGA 7950 GT KO now for G80 step-up?

For my new build I'm debating between a 1900XT or XTX, or an eVGA 7950GT. For most games of course, the OCed 1900's should beat out the 7950 for roughly the same price, but I'm considering the 7950GT because of its power efficiency and most importantly, the change to use the step-up program to get a G80.

So my question is, what's the latest word on the timetable of the G80?!? The step-up program is good for 90 days, and I was planning on starting this build in a couple of weeks, so basically, is G80 going to make it out in 2006?!?

Thoughts, recommendations are all welcome.

i have an eVGA 7950gt

i have been MORE than pleased with its performance

i have it paired with a 3200+ and 2gb of ram.

i just bought Company of Heroes today and did the graphics test (everything max'd @ 12x10 res) and got like:

MAX FPS: 114

AVERAGE FPS: 41

MIN FPS: 25

the G80 is suppose to come out late november, early december from the sounds of it (which is in the 90 day step up plan)

I made the same choice. The x1900xt has great bank for the buck. But I went with the EVGA 7950 GT for the step-up option. It's too bad EVGA overprices cards they sell direct. Rumor has it the G80 GT will retail at $449.00. I'm sure EVGA will be selling it for at least that...

Rumors are saying Nov, but there seems to be a complete lack of buzz from what I can tell. This tells me it may be further off than that.

I am hoping it is in Nov with ATI shortly after. I have the upgrade itch and holding off until these two cards are out so I can determine which one to buy.

Argh 90nm, going to run ridicoulously hot and need massive cooling. I might wait for 65nm if it's going to be out sometime in the winter/spring. Not plunking down $450US for a hairdryer.

Wouldn't the right choice be the 7900GTX if you're going to step-up? You're going to have to pay the difference later, so might as well enjoy the 7900GTX now.
