I bought a Hitachi 6.5GB hard drive with 1-year Mfg. Warranty in March
from buy.com. The drive broke down recently and I contacted buy.com as well
as Hitachi. Both of them refused to replace the drive.

What can I do now? :(

yah contact hitachi. under law they owe you a damn new drive as per the warranty- unless it's expired, ofcourse.

surprised buy.com wouldn't take the return. i killed one of my durons (fried it) and sent it back about 2 months after i bought it and they replaced it no questions asked.

GL!

why won't hitachi accept it? I mean, what kind of reason are they giving you for not replacing it?

<< Thank you for using Hitachi Product.
We are not able to provide you the warranty directly, Please contact the
"Online store" for service.

Anyway is order another exactly the same and take out the new one and put the bad one in. Remember they try to screw you first. If they refused to credit you back, call your CC company and dispute the charges saying that they ship you defective parts. Most cc give you purchase protection plan.
