bought an item on 10/15(Lexar Jumpdrive) for 31.99 (free ship). Anyway, I never rec'd it. Initiated a lost item claim on 11/01. They said it would 5 business days.. blah blah blah. Let 2 weeks go by. Nothing.

So they said I could file for money back. So I did. 10 more days go by. I called. They said oops, nothing has been sent to claims, they will escalate. Called a few days later to complain - they said they would escalate again.

Boy, i'm getting p|ssed.

Finally called on 12/15/04 to CSR. She said suprisingly enough, she would escalate. I said not good enough. Asked to speak to to supervisor - she said they were all busy. I said I would wait. 17 minutes later(no kidding) Warren answers the phone.

Goes through all his mumbo jumbo about how sorry he is. blah blah, it it were up to him he'd give me the moeny back, blah blah. I said I wasn't getting off the phone until I had a resolution. I wanted his supervisor. He said there was no where else to go.

I'm getting more and more p|ssed.

He promised to escalate. Great. by this time I should be on top of Mt. Everest!

I hung up in disgust.

Re'cd email about 30 mins later that my claim was approved. Fantastic, I thought. They stated

"We have researched your claim request for item #10360518 on order
> #20366442.
>
> Because we are dedicated to serving you at the highest level of care and
> consideration, we have approved your claim request. You will soon
> receive a confirmation email in reference to the resolution that you
> chose.
"

OK, I chose to have the money credited back to my debit card. I emailed them and asked when?

Their response:
">Thank you for contacting Buy.com.

>We are responding this email regarding order #20366442.

>We would like to inform you that, a credit has been requested in the amount of $31.99 towards your >order. This is only a request and it must be approved before the credit is applied.

>If the request is approved and the credit is sent to your bank, an email will be sent to you. In that case, >please note that it may take 5-7 business days for your bank to apply the credit to your account.

>Thank you for writing to Buy.com."

5 - 7 MORE days IF I'M APPROVED!!

These are a bunch of freakin crooks.

Stay away from them if you can.

Sorry for the long message.

this is one of many many reasons I use a credit card instead of a check card for online purchaces. Use their float, not yours.

Heh, a month or two ago, buy.com had 256mb jumpdrives for $1 after instant rebate. I ordered two. They cancelled the order (and everybody else's). I don't think I ever got credited my $2. Dealing with their CS isn't worth $2.
