The coupon is for returning customers (at least it worked for me). Techbargains for more info on coupon.

If you can find a valid $50 rebate that would work this would be a killer deal. Unfortunately the only ones I've found were at Best Buy B&M and Compuplus.com.

Of course you have to add shipping and tax if appropriate.

Get it now before it goes out of stock. Don't hesitate.

dafatha00,

<< Radeon isn't a bad card but the drivers blow..buy the card and sell it >>

Haven't taken a crap this morning, huh?

Do you have a radeon? This will be my fourth. We all know that ATI has a dreadful past with drivers but it seems like the current batch of drivers works fine for this card. At least for now!

It sounds like you need to post a topic of your own for getting your card for $180 rather than dumping on this one.

They're getting closer though for whatever that's worth. I just grabbed the latest beta software and drivers for AIW128 on W2k released the other day and finally have a working tv tuner and dvd under W2k. I haven't tried any games yet...not really my thing but like an occassional bout with UT or QIII.

The DVD works better than the Hollywood+ card in my Nokia 445Xpro. Cleaner, sharper, clearer, I can't imagine how it could be any better. Better than the Hollywood+ card at least. Also, noticable improvement in 2D quality over the TNT2 Ultra. No driver problems at all.

dafatha00, bad drivers? u should not talk if u dont know what you are talking about, the drivers are upheld as least troublesome drivers at launch time with any video card. and your $180 Geforce 2 32mb is not realistic either. (unless u got used one from friend). so learn the facts first before u open your X

Is it true that the current driver for Win2k kind of bad? I read the review by Anand and the performance in Win2k is like less than half of Win9X.

MustangSVT- I too know the troubles of buying new ATI products. Reliability isn't a problem but when you start looking at features.....

Evidence #1- Rage Fury cards shipped with drivers that didn't support the TV out feature of the card. I know, I had one.

Evidence #2- TV-Wonder shipped right around the beginning of the year 1999. I bought it virtually the day it came out only to discover that NONE of the features that I bought the card for (Digital VCR, Video Desktop, etc...) were enabled on the initial shipment of the software. All that was there was basic TV viewing features which looked like crap. My STB TV card from 97 looked better than this thing. New version of the software is finished around October/November 1999 (9-10 Months after the cards release) but due to the licensing aggreement with the company that made the software (ATI contracts out all of their programs as I understand it) ATI wasn't allowed to put the new software on the Internet for download and therefor had to ship new CD's to anyone who wanted it. Keep in mind that the latest NVidia chipset that was out when this card shipped was the Riva TNT, and when the features of this card were finally enabled they had the GeForce 256's out, that's right NVidia had released 2 new generations of products in the amount of time that ATI took to get their old product working like promised. End result.....I recieved the new software right around a year after the card was released and I still have the POS sitting in a drawer somewhere. Never again will an ATI product get anywhere near one of my machines.

Just my $.02

I just remembered that it was around March that the TV-Wonder was released....not quite as bad but still horible.

The drivers for the Radeon work great and this cards visual quality is 100% better than the Geforce, both in 2d and 3d games. Everything looks much better with the Radeon. I couldn't believe how fuzzy the text on the Geforce was on my 21" monitor until I popped the Radeon in. It was like night and day. I yanked my Geforce for the Radeon and I couldn't be happier. If you are in the market for a video card don't settle for the mediocre visual quality of the Geforce. You don't need to and you'll pay less.

I'll get one when ATI start to produce drivers at half as fast as Nvidia do.
Radeon is a wonderful card, no one deny that.
But I'll take reliability over uncertainty. ATI does not get their reputation over night.
They screw a lot of ATI cards owner out there.
look at Diamond, I got MX300 over SB!Live and couple of years later SBLive has LiveWare
and MX300 still stuck with original driver until they got bought by S3 and Aureal declare bankrupcy.
I'm not saying that ATI is like Diamond, it is just an example.
just my opinion

I'm not a fan of the driver of the week club. It's frustrating that no one seems capable of bringing a finished product to market from the beginning and buyers just let it happen. All I have to say is that there might be something to that radiation theory and is making people more stupid than they already might have been.

It's currently sitting at $175US minus whatever your coupon is. I can't believe that's about $40US cheaper than in Canada... and it's a @$$%& Canadian card!!!! :|:|
There's a Buy.Canada, but they cost so much more! I'm wondering if Buy.com ships to Canada... :p

In case you haven't seen the other thread, you can also get this card from Outpost with free overnight shipping for $169.95. A lot of us have gotten in on that.

And I have to say: Yes, ATI's past products were crap, but let's not forget that so were nVidia's. This is an entirely new card. New chipset, new drivers, new compatibility. It works fantastic with every program I've tried it with so far, adn the graphics are incredible.

ALL of the graphics card makers have been guilty of putting out junk products that were barely compatible with anything. Finally we're seeing some quality stuff now. But I think it's ridiculous to get one of hte $200+ cards right now. The radeon screams, and I'm convinced it's the most bang for your buck.

If buy.com is really having free shipping this monday, you can get the card for $145.95! This is assuming they don't raise the price though which they always do on free shipping days.

I have always hated ATI products (always been a 3dfx then nvidia boy) but the Radeon just kicks @ss. The visual quality puts the GeForces and voodoos to shame - UT and my desktop never looked so sharp and vibrant. The drivers, for once, work as advertised. It looks like losing market share got ATI of its collective lazy @ss and thank goodness for that. For the $170 shipped overnight from outpost this card is a steal. It'll be very hard to ever go back to nvidia or 3dfx with the blurry 2d and washed out 3d.

djchemistry: Yes, though the current flooz deals are a bit more complicated. Basically you send XXX and get XXX for yourself. And since you can't combine Flooz accounts, that means you're using the "bonus" account (the get xxx for yourself account) as your discount for Outpost.com.

When flooz first started the deal, it was "send someone some money and we'll double it." That was much easier... send it to yourself, and you've doubled your money.

But as I described it, basically you're going to have to make sure you eventually want to spend the flooz that you put up in the first place, because you can't get it back, and you can't use it at the same time you use your bonus flooz. Make sense?
