I purchased many things from Buy.com. Never had to return anything but came close once, so I can tell you what I know.
I purchased a Samsung laser printer. When I received it, the box had noticeable water damage (we had some heavy rain over the weekend, and I believe the UPS truck/facility where my printer was sitting was leaking), and I was uneasy about opening it.
I just decided to return it. However, on Buy.com's site I couldn't return the unopened item. The dropdown didn't have that choice. So, a quick search on the internet revealed their toll-free number. I called them, and talked a pleasant guy whose name was Sammy. Essentially he told me to go ahead, and try to use the printer, and if it didn't work, just send it back.
So I did that, and it's been working fine, so I didn't have to return the printer. I'd suggest searching for Buy.com phone number, and calling them. Ask your question, and get the name of the person you speak too. By the way, I did ask if there were anyone else with that name there, and Sammy said no
