buy.com now rakuten.com has a 50 off 200 deal

code is rewardme

http://www.rakuten.com/ct/Rakutensu...aspx?omadtrack=memorialevent_homepage_feature

now anyone that knows this company knows to take lots of screen shots as they can f up often. I have a thread a few months back complaining about them. they did fix the order so when they have a good deal i use them .

i purchased 3 of these today

http://www.rakuten.com/prod/western...-750-gb-2-5-sata-internal-hard/219565176.html

cost was 213 and i got 5x 213 points or 1065 and the bonus 5000 total of 6065 points or $60.65 to spend at a later date.

this site has a lot of bs rules. one is 7 or less items for a promo or f u.

so you can't buy 10 items at 20 each to get the deal. but if you jump the hurdles correctly this is a good promo.

This isn't really a $50 off $200. Rakuten (former Buy.com) will credit you with $50 with of "Super Points" once your points "mature". 100 points = $1. So you will receive 5,000 Rakuten Super Points.

EARNING SUPER POINTS

After an eligible purchase is made, the earned Super Points may be held in pending status for up to fifteen (15) calendar days after the purchase has shipped unless otherwise stated. Qualifying standard Super Points will generally be available for redemption purposes on the sixteenth (16th) calendar day after shipment of the purchase."

POINT EXPIRATIONS
Standard Super Points expire at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on the date that is One Hundred Eighty (180) days after the associated order ships, unless a subsequent purchase is made through that Account. If such subsequent purchase is made, then the otherwise-expiring Super Points will be extended for another One Hundred Eighty (180) days. Once expired, Super Points will not be reinstated. Expiration date(s) for all Super Points in an Account will be displayed on the Customer(s) Account page.

For the April and May 5x sitewide, please note that Super Points will be available 15 days after item ships and will expire 60 days thereafter. If customers opt in to a promotion using a promo code, then promotional point offer terms apply.

I just checked my account and I have 129 Super Points that are "expired". I originally assumed the points would stay there until I decided to use them. Apparently Rakuten decided that points have an expiration date and become stale if they sit in your account too long and therefore need to be thrown out.

This does not suggest that Rakuten has turned Buy.com around...

Not sure if they have, but I went back to using them as they do have some very good prices.

I rank them and tiger direct as really sleazy. But a deal is a deal. Since I do resell on ebay and build a lot of gear for people this will work for me.

Getting 3 750gb scorpio black drives for 213 and a 60 dollar credit in the future is a vey good deal.

comes to 4 750gb scorpio black drives for about 222 that is tough to beat. I have a lot of mac mini builds for people. so future money works for me. I will clear the title up.

This still can be a decent deal if you need to purchase more than one component. I've been looking to upgrade to an I5-3570K for awhile now. Microcenter currently has the best deal, but there aren't any near me.

MicroCenter

$179 = I5-3570K + Tax (6% in Mich)
$114 = Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H (originally $145 - $40 combo deal + tax)
______
$293 Total

Rakuten

$220 = I5-3570K + $10 shipping (no tax)
$90 = Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H (originally $145 + $6 shipping - $60.50 in Rakuten points earned from CPU purchase)
______
$310 total

$17 difference between the two isn't bad. You just need to order the CPU first, wait for the points to "mature" then order the motherboard while cashing in your points.

Sorry for the derail, but you'd actually be better off with this deal from Newegg:

TRUE for most but for me in NEW JERSEY I have to pay 21 tax so it is 320.

there is a good mobo from a seller

http://www.rakuten.com/prod/gigabyt...-desktop-motherboard-intel-z77/230276111.html

refurbished. I got one last month it has been flawless. so this is 149

http://www.rakuten.com/prod/kingsto...-pin-ddr3-1600mhz/236377075.html?listingId=-1

this stick of ram is 64

so 213 then use the 60 in rebates to get a second stick of ram for 4 bucks.

I do like the sniper mATX board. with all refurbs it is risky but my purchase last month has been good so far.

Oops! Forgot about 5% Fatwallet cash back at Rakuten. That lowers the price of the CPU/mobo combo by $15.

Let me post some important information.

#1 You will NOT get cashback from any referral site if you use a coupon. Save yourself the trouble and don't bother trying.

#2 Rakuten has been building a bad reputation for CC theft (believed to be mostly due to 3rd party resellers as many of the coupons force going through them...) I would HIGHLY suggest using a 1 time payment method with Rakuten (virtual CC numbers, gift card, etc)

#3 do NOT use PayPal, Google Checkout or V.me for payment. IT WILL VOID THE SUPER POINTS.

#4 SuperPoints take time to become available, iirc its 2weeks after the order ships. Additionally Superpoints do expire. Important dates show up on your superpoints account page.

And finally the good thing about SuperPoints, you can use them same as cash on any order even with another coupon.

i place about an order per month with ratuken. with many items, they are significantly cheaper than amazon. why would rakuten share my credit card number with their 3rd party resellers? can't rakuten secure the number, and only send the payment to the reseller? (hmmm... i did have a credit card get compromised a few months ago. coincidence?)

i have had issues with cc's after ;

buy/rakuten ;

after tiger direct ;

and believe it or not after going to a certain cashier at my local lowes

also after using dell online.

but then again my wife never used a card it was in the mailing envelope in our home in NJ and was used for a car rental (avis?) in texas.

I do a lot of purchases for reselling and purchases for builds.

Maybe 50000 a year in gear purchases on a few cards.

Not getting rich but lots of good gear passes through my hands.

Well, yeah, I read the fine print also.

It's just, at checkout it doesn't indicate that I'll get 5k points. It just says like 1250 points or something.

at checkout you should get 5x points now that is your faster rakuten bonus in your case 5x 250 = 1250 and you should have put in;

rewardme as the code

somewhere your order should say ;

{ thanks for participating in the memorial day savings event! check your account in 7 days to see how many points you've racked up!

Super point promotion:

memorial day event. }

my order has this and was part monoprice 10 bucks and mostly buy.com 193 bucks.

I got the 1015 = 5x 203 and need to wait 1 week for the 5k points to show.

Most likely based on the mothers day promo I will need to wait for 1 week after it ships.

this is why I do screen shots of this site I hate the way they show your points due.

The limits you posted as concerned about are created for those like you that rape deals to resell.

The idea for the most part on hot deals is while you are shopping for the hot item, you pick up some accessory parts at the same time. Resellers just go in and rape the deal and then resell later...this causes issues with their next months sales of that item.

It's a complicated model.

Coming into a thread to insult the poster is thread crapping.
From the Hot Deals Rules: "No thread crapping. If the subject matter of a deal does not interest you, do not post negative comments about it, or about other members, in the thread" and you certainly should know that.

another tip: many credit cards extend the warranty by up to one year. but, only if you put the entire purchase on the credit card. Super Points might be a gray area. if the warranty is important, then don't use super points. i frequently buy books or supplements with super points.

if you don't know how to use up your Super Points, then buy a bottle of Saccharomyces Boulardii. most everyone can benefit from Saccharomyces Boulardii. $14.99 with free shipping. (cheapest on Amazon right now is $13.18 + $2.59 shipping)

I follow rules I do not advocate multiple accounts or accounts with friends and or relatives. If following the rules is your definition of raping a deal we live in different worlds.

If I WERE TO RAPE A DEAL first off I would not post the deal for others to use.
I would have 5 or six accounts with newegg ,amazon, rakuten and what ever other places I could do it. I would also go to micro center every day of the week to buy a mobo/cpu combo. I respect your opinion and your long record of posts but you are not being respectful to me. Or at least I feel being called a rapist of hot deals is not very respectful to me.

You may not realize that building a few dozen computers a year, building a gpu farm,
plus buying ,modding ,upgrading 20 or 30 Mac minis means you spent 50,000 on parts.

When I first came to this site I did not read all of the sites rules defining what a reseller is I was told I am defined as a reseller so I do not post anything for sale. I don't skirt the rules with a different member name using a different ip address either.

If I can't post in the hot deal section I will stop posting in it I don't want to break any rules and or cause any hard feelings on this site.

^You're posting deals that you genuinely believe are worthwhile and most of the time I agree with you.

Keep up the good work, OP. :thumbsup:
