Looks like a pretty good deal if you want to get your own modem.
 
This modem is DOCSIS Compliant, which means it uses the Cable Modem "standard" method of communicating. Not *all* Cable modem companies use DOCSIS, but most right now are using it. The best way to find out is to goto your cable provider's web page and look it up. Usually on their FAQ it will tell you what kind of modem to purchase. You could compare DOCSIS to lets say Cell phone technology... Each vendor uses a different standard so if you buy a phone with Sprint PCS it would not be compatible with Verizon Wireless. The difference here is that almost all big companies are using DOCSIS because it is the standard (similar to how v.90 is the standard for 56K Modems)
