Because "Big Blue" buys cheap components and slaps its "IBM" on them and expects everyone to salute. Compared to "name brand" components, these are usually poor quality, albethey priced at "IBM" levels.

While I'm on a tear here, you may have noticed that IBM computer systems are generally poorer in quality and upgradability, but more expensive, then, say, something someone checked out with erector set skills could purchase and put together. Their laptops are just poor. So are their monitors.

A junior executive I had to finally let go once said to me, "Sure its pretty good; look what it cost!"

As someone else on this site trails his posts, "That's just my opinion. I could be wrong."

I'm cooping at IBM and they don't make hardly anything besides servers here. They sell RAM at inflated prices, and it's Toshiba memory sold by IBM. This is definitely a "generic" monitor.

IBM laptops and business level computers are excellent. They
don't make the lower end laptops themselves, but they are made
to IBM specs, which are rigid. The business level computers are
also excellent. They're all (laptops and business solutions)
expensive. But well designed and with quality throughout.

Low end IBM stuff (consumer grade computers, consumer grade monitors,
etc.) is farmed out with an IBM logo slapped on, and is
not worth what it costs.

Kwad Guy,

I'm just saying you couldn't prove your assertions from my poor experiences with "Big Blow."
