This looks like a good deal to me. This unit lists for $1999, and Buy.com has it for $799 and it also has a $100 mailin rebate. I would LOVE to have a color laser printer.....😉

no warrantry??

Yup...no warranty.

I'd hate to have a $700 lemon sitting on my desk 3 months from now.
Kinda makes you think twice before buying.

subpar

...Tempting....but the $100plus per cartridge times four for 6,000 pages scares me! And usually the cartridge that comes with new lasers is the economy cartridge so it may not get 6,000 pages before we would have to spend another $400plus for new cartridges.

Maybe someone knows more about the pricing/page count of the consumables on this printer, let us know if they can be found a lot cheaper.

I'm curious about the no warranty part. That just doesn't sound right because it's got to be a brand new unit if rebate is available. Unless Ricoh specifically told buy.com to not include warranty? But is that legal to sell a new product without a warranty and don't state laws override something like that?

Edit- Anyone know if these cartridges could economically be refilled with a quality toner?
I assume the cartridges come with this unit but it doesn't say so. That would be a bummer to receive it and have to spend another $400-$500 for cartridges!

It would be very neat to have a color laser printer, and it likely wouldn't break down, but honestly even if it was 1/2 price, I wouldn't take it with no warranty. You would be able to return it to Buy.com if something were wrong with it from the start, but what happens a few months from now? Not for me.

Guys, I am pretty sure that the no warranty is a typo. Remember the 19 inch monitor that was the DOD a couple of weeks ago? It said the same thing but when the monitor showed up, it included the full manufacturer's warranty....

Quick check for on-line pricing...using shopper.com and pricewatch.com

PCNation.com $1247 + s/h
Buy.com $1289 + 44.45 s/h

Good deal IF you were going to buy this printer anyway. Printers these days for SOHO, or personal use, you got to look at the total cost per page....
