Is it really necessary to post the deal of the day EVERY day? All you have to do to find the deal of the day is go to Text and look for yourself every day. Bookmark it or something.

Well, I think a Deal Of The Day deserves its own thread only when it is really a HOT DEAL, but not when it's something no one cares about. You guys may have a different opinion :)

I like reading buy.com "deal of the day" here.

People could discuss whether it is really a good deal or not.

Some people who had bought the item before could share their experience also.

Thanks for those who post "deal of the day" thread!

Is it really necessary to gripe about it in an OT post?
Or respond to a gripe for that matter...

Your post is more annoying because it is deceiving.

I appreciate those posts though because sometimes I don't have time to go to all these differnt places to look and would be nice to just highlight the deal here all on one place..

Me personally, I would rather see the Deal of the Day posted on here simply because it kills two birds with one stone. While we're here to read about new deals, we can also read about the Deal of the Day ... plus, usually people filter out the useless deals and post ones that are considered a "hot deal" only here.

How about the Mod put up a post that says:

Buy.com Deal of the Day 9/15/00

Or something to that extent? That way, people won't ask in the thread anymore after it's over with.

I think people do it to a.) Raise their posted message count, and b.) Because they feel good about being the 1st person to post it. If they wanna play that game I'm on here every morning before the first person posts the deal of the day... ;)

Well, for those of you who do want it, the buy of the day (9/15/00) is a RCA HiFi 4 Head VCR for $59.99 ($120 on Amazon). Not the greatest brand, but imagine the deal if you can find a coupon for it.

Most every coupon other than the $10 off $30 new customer discounts are dead. Guess people were buying a few too many of these.

My opinion:

I think every post is important about any product... Thats what forums are for... So that we will discuss it and see if its a hot deal or combime it with coupons and rebates to make it hot, by improving someones post maybe, making others aware about this product.

if no one cares about it it will get bumped away anyway!

Peace n Toilets.

The discussion is more or less on whether the deal is hot or not...since some deals turn out to be bad after reading the fine print...so it is a great idea that it gets posted here for discussion.

I think especially for the newbies to this forum. the dealathaday thread is important, because it helps determine if it is really worth blowing your money on. and the quicker we get everyones reviews and experiences and opinions, the quicker we can decide if we should buy it or not. rather than sometimes waiting till the next day and potentially missing out on this deal. ie dreamcast, sony laptop

Well hey, the deal of the day sucks for buy.com today, unless you're interested in a 4-head HiFi VCR. It's not that it's a VCR, it's just a RCA.

If the deal of the day is a hot deal I don't see any reason why it should not be posted. Just don't click on the thread if you are not interested. I find the deal of the day discussions to be useful especially when people post links to reviews of the product - reviews that I didn't find when I tried doing a web search.

LOL! THe only reason I clicked on this thread is because I wanted to see what today's deal was. A hot deal is a hot deal, so all the whiners should just shut up and let folks post.

Exactly. If you do not want to know the Buy. com deal of the day, don't read the post! Is some one forcing you to read every post? Idiots!

what an idiot... I often forget to look every day on Buy.com and have made two great purchases because I remember after viewing Anandtech Hot Deals...
