Thing is, this one isnt' advertised on their homepage yet, and it is likely that the price will be LOWER than the one you're looking at. I spoke to Buy.com regarding the fact that you can just change the SKU # in the dealoftheday promo, and it will show you a different product. They were aware of that, but they told me that the actual DISCOUNT won't appear until the day the product is featured. The fact that you found this one is great, but it's not quite the "deal" of the day until it is featured on their homepage.

Well, lets see.

PIII 933 $550
128MB $140
60GB $450 (IBM 7200rpm) or $250 (Maxtor 5400rpm)
HP 9200 (8x4x32) $250
12X DVD $110
TNT2 Vanta $70
Network card $20

So far, it cost
$1,590 w/ IBM 7200rpm 75GXP or

$1,390 w/ Maxtor 5400rpm

Of course, you still need a motherboard, case, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and soundcard.

Intel 815 based board w/ sound $140
Case $65
Decent Keyboard & mouse $60
Speakers $50
---
$315

Now the total is

$1,905 w/ IBM
or
$1,705 w/ Maxtor

Of course, if you get a 700e instead of 933e and overclock it to 933Mhz, you can knock off $300 - $350 off. You can also save money not spending $70 on Vanta and go with integrated video on 815 motherboard. Or spend the saving on Geforce 2 or alike. HP system probably has VIA 133A based board and 5,400rpm drive, but you never know.

Still, $1,750 for the system is a pretty good deal. It depends on if you see building a system yourself is fun or pain.
