What's up with this call in for coupon verification? Anyone do this yet? What do they want from us?

I tried to get the $30 off $150 coupon for new customers, but the customer rep there told me it was for business use only or something like that. He then gave me the $10 off coupon. I'm going to try to call tommorrow and give them a business name, try to get the $30 off coupon.

Hi

i just got a bought a vid card from Buy.com and used the $10 off $30 coupon (for new customer accounts only). The CSR didn't have a problem with letting me use the coupon.

by the way, a cheap vid card (32mb jaton TNT PCI). It's on back order but hey, i can wait. they price it at 69.95 and UPS ground shipping is $5.22. so the total is $75.17. but use the Buy.com coupon ($10 off $30) and the card is shipped to you for $65.17. here's the link for the coupon

Yes Buy.com has coupon codes, it used to be just a link, but after all the people took advantage of it, they now require you to call in... smart people, but some will still get through using a fake business address or what not. You have to call 1-888-880-1030 after you order to apply the coupon code. They'll probably ask where you got the code. Sometimes, saying that you got it from a friend works...

Here is what happened to me. I ordered $150 worth of merchandise and called buy.com to get #30 off the purchase. The CSR was very nice. She did ask me where I got the code and I just told her "I got it off of the internet":D . She said ok and then took the coupon code and told me it would appear as a seperate credit to my citibank card. Yesterday I got this e-mail from them:

Not sure what the "Since your experience with order #XXXXXXXXX
did not live up to our high standards" meant because she was very nice and not a harsh word was spoken. I guess maybe they just use some kind of coding to justify the $30 off coupon. Oh well, I got my $30 back.

Guys, I used the $30 of $150 when it came out because I put it in my shopping cart right away. I don't know why people don't do this more often, but if you add the coupon to your cart, it will stay there until you purchase something. :)

caveman2001: true, but after this one order, you'll have to call in like the rest of us...

personally i think it's stupid, i don't think you can use private payment anymore... once they charge the amount on to your credit card, they won't be able to make another transaction with the same cc#, therefore meaning they won't be able to credit you with the 30 bucks....

oh well that's my 3 cents...
