My mom scored a japanese import Camry SE 🙂

That's like hitting the lottery.
Did she get a slip saying where the vehicle was made with a stamp?

Honda, Industrial salvation for Ohio

Before Honda came to Marysville, there were only a couple of industries in the area with limited employment. The unemployment rate at the time Honda was considering moving to the Buckeye State was in the double-digits.

Honda of America has grown from a mere 64-associate motorcycle plant to a multi-plant operation, employing more than 16,000 people in Ohio.

Yep most Americans assume because it's Honda it comes straight from Japan.

Honda = Marysville, Ohio
Toyota = Georgetown, Kentucky

Ironically our 02 Honda Accord did come from Japan, I was hoping for something American made. Although I think it may contain some parts from the USA but the bulk of it was from Japan (according to the VIN and specs list).

I think he is rolling his eyes at people who say not to buy american b/c alot of japanese companies have plants here in the US anyways.

Yes, there are plants here, employing American workers. But, all the big profits are going to Japan. 🙁

It's pretty sad that Americans are ashamed to own a car built by an American owned company[b/]. 😱

it's probably cuz they're built in mexico

Regardless of the reason, It's still a sad situation, and quite embarrassing for the American companies

Fixed.

Nissan Titan/Nissan Pathfinder Armada = made in Mississippi
Honda Accord, 4 door Civic, Element and Acura TL = made in Ohio
Honda Odyssey, Pilot = made in Alabama
Honda Civic 2 door = made in Ontario

My 'stang was born in the same AAI plant and comes of the same line as the Mazda6 in Flat Rock...does that mean I bought an import...a MazStang perhaps 😀

I think just about every Nissan sold here is built here?

Japan = United States

When we buy Japanese cars, US dollars flow to Japan. Then Japan sends those dollars back purchasing investments, government bonds, start businesses here, etc.

I'd take a japanese made honda over american made honda any day of the week 😛.
The products they got over there reak of quality.
The people there actually care about what they produce.

Subaru Legacy/Outback/Baja: made in Lafayette, Indiana
Subary Impreza/WRX/STi/Forester: made in Gunma, Japan

If you want to buy 100% American, your best bet is Ford.

"10,000 idle autoworkers pocketing $1.3 billion
Detroit car industry pays them full wages under UAW deal
January 28, 2005
BY JEFFREY McCRACKEN
FREE PRESS BUSINESS WRITER
Amid falling U.S. market share, shuttered plants and production cutbacks, Detroit's three automakers and largest auto supplier are paying about 10,000 hourly workers in the United States and Canada full wages and benefits not to work, a Free Press survey shows. The number appears to be up from the last few years and will likely grow again this year, though it still won't be as high as a decade ago. Most of the companies refused to say how much they are spending to pay all these workers, but it's likely well over $1 billion this year, given the number of workers and typical union wage-and-benefit packages."

Call me crazy, but maybe Big 3 American workers should get paid to build cars? That's a lot of money that could be used for training, R&D, and quality control.
