buy a vehicle off of ebay?

There is a nice vehicle selling on ebay that I really want to grab.

I have been asking lots of questions, will probably call the seller.

I would have to fly over and drive it home.

My question is, is it risky business doing so?

Should be fine. Or have it shipped to your home.

I would do that, but doesn't shipping a vehicle run about 500-600$?

I will probably win the car for about 6.5k.

It has some minor bumper scratches and such here and there.

as far as I know...NY vehicles dont have much rust, correct?

You big concern is if the vehicle is in the running condition and the overall condition that you will accept it for.

If not, then you either take it (with price adjustment) or figure out how to get back home on your own quarter.

If possible, get some-one to look at the vehicle for you to confirm the condition.

At a min, have a auto dealer/independ mechanic give you a service check report on it.

exactly. My dad bought 2 minivans off ebay. He loved the first one but it was stolen and totaled. It payed for the second. Both were from the same dealers, except 1 was in AZ (the dad dealer) and the other in DE (son dealer). When we went to pick up the second one in DE, it didn't look like the pictures, it had lots of little gravel bumps that you couldn't see in the picutes of the sky blue van. Well, my dad didn't want it and yes, saving 8k would be reason to get 1 negative feedback but eventually the dealer showed us a silver one we like better and we drove that one home.

if you buy it, fly to NY to pay and pickup so you can see it and keep your payment if there is something wrong.

I bought a used Jeep off of eBay a few years ago. Vehicle was just as stated. Worked perfectly before I crashed it.

I bought my Land Cruiser from eBay about 2 years ago. It happened to be only about 5 miles from my brother's place in PA (I'm in CO), so he had a look at it for me and confirmed at least the basics. I flew out and drove it back. I think I got a pretty decent deal overall. I wouldn't buy from eBay without having somebody actually lay eyes on it though.
