which flat panel did you get?

I'm assuming the monitor has a place to connect to dvi and a place for vga. your question being that is your vga out video card good enough for the display or should you buy a card that has dvi out to reap the benefits of the lcd.

Well I'm biased on the subject.

mine

I had it first set up with my video card (had 1 dvi out, 1 vga out). To me the dvi out looked a lot better, so I bought a card that has 2 dvi outs (Gainward GF4 TI4600) to replace the other card (PNY GF4 TI4600, currently FS)

I liked the results.

so.... hmm

simply put, if you had the cash I'd go for it.

If you've been using it for a little while and it looks good enough for you, save your cash.

also from my experience, when using an lcd, going from vga to dvi there is a noticeable drop in ghosting. if you were a gamer (assuming you're not based on your present video card) this might be another thing to take under consideration.

Well, you can get a DVI card almost for free. I got a GF 2MX DVI for only $25 a year ago, and it's indeed better than analog.

For $18 (new!) you can get ATI original Rage 2000 something 32MB AGP with DVI.

Yes. If you dropped the coin on a good DVI TFT, you have no excuse to not throw another $20 into a videocard upgrade to get DVI.

very true. I just don't understand the concept of cheap video cards I guess.

Yep, go for the cheap DVI, you'll like it.
