Buy a 2100 now or after Barton?

Should I wait for the prices to go down after barton comes into full swing, or should I get one now so I could get a 0248-51?
Do you think that future weeks will be better or worse, since so far the 0302's, for the most part, are not doing as well as the 0248-51's?
Anyone have a 03xx doing high clocks?

i orginally wanted to wait to get mine
but after getting my 8rda yesterday and having it sit in the bag
i broke down this AM and got a 2100+ be here on thursday!!
so i couldnt wait. although i probably cost myself some $$$.
oh well, i want that baby up and running by this weekend.

i think its pretty random at this point, seems like the best week were the 0248 followed by the others. im not certain where you can get a week248 if anywhere.

i know pcnuts was doing some special sorting, but most places will not do that. i really dont think your going to see a huge price drop when the new barton cpu's arrive.

why haggle over a few dollars on a 100$ cpu, when it can already preform at the level of Amds 300$ cpu. you might wait a month, only to find out that the 2100 you get wont overclock very well.

some are doing quite well

Actaeon has a-

Stepping:
AXDA2100DUT3C
AIUHB0302RPFW
925594728063

Speed:
2405 mhz

since its more recent not as many of them have been bought and tested I believe... for the most part there are a lot from 248-251

I just got a 0239 which is brown, I guess we'll see how the realllly early chip does

Great chip, i was debating a Barton or this 2100+. I've been waiting for Barton several months ago. But I figured that the Barton will be pretty expensive, and it'll take a while for some good yields to be available. So I went ahead and paid the $98 for the 2100+, and got a pretty good overclock. So I plan on keeping the 2100+ until I move to another platform (p4/hammer/whatever is out).

Can someone explain what "stepping" is? Is this basically a CPUs serial # for a "lot" or "run". How do I get exactly what I'm looking for as far as a sood stepping and why do some steppings work better than others?

stepping can be defined into:
the wafer of silicon used-AIUHB=it means the wafer shipment that was used to produce the chip
or minor revision on the core design-the thoroughbred-b is considered a stepping, the p4 c1 stepping
considered as a new stepping from the old b0
