Buy 8600GTS

With X1950XT 256 for $180, this isn't so nice. Also based on "rumoured" 320 stream processors of HD 2900, ATI's mid-range cards could be screaming.

This only has 32 processors. Too much of a cripple for $50 more expensive 8800GTS. Not worth it.

A valid point!

yeah Nvidia's mid range looks pathetic. I'll be waiting yet another month or so to see what ATI's mid range offers and going from them.

well it just came out. i bet its $150 or less with rebate inside of a month. plus its a passive cooled one.

a normal cooler one, probably will be even less expesnive.

that looks like at least one dvi. i dont know, it doesnt seem like that bad a deal, since if you look at the box pic it seems to also come with supreme commadner for free if you like that game.

As stated above, at $200, I would rather spend $50 more and get an 8800GTS. Passive cooling and a $125 price point could make me think twice. Waiting a month until ATI's new cards drive Nvidia's prices down.

Too bad ATI's linux drivers are bad so I don't really have a choice of videocards.

after seeing benchmarks from a few sites, I can't say I'm too impressed with this card, some games even run much slower than 79xx series they are replacing. Not sure why perhaps driver problem? Hopefully not a technical limitation.
