Makes a lot of sense for Palm. Offer a 30% off incentive to
companies that go for Palm in a big way...Competition has heated
up a lot in the PDA market, and Palm is deathly afraid of losing
market share to Handspring, Compaq and HP...

Personally, I picked up a Jornada 525 last weekend for $180
(super clearance one-time sale), and after having used a Palm
for a couple of years, I can say this is like night and day.
I can understand why Palm is starting to sweat.

Now all I need is 50 friends to go in on this with me. Too bad most of my friends do not want a PDA or have one already.

You've got a good point, Kwad, right up to the bit about HandSpring. I was at a retail employees training conference last week. Palm sent two reps, a digital projector and tons of free stuff to give away. They were having fun, and the crowd loved them. HandSpring sent one guy with some Point of Purchase stickers and a couple of transparencies. And he looked nervous as hell. Palm's new M500 series machines blow away the Visors and give HP / Compaq something serious to think about. As of this moment, I'm not at all impressed with HandSpring.
