Next gen is probably going to be out Q3 at the earliest, but I could be wrong. If you feel your rig is slouching and you need that boost, get the 2nd 670. You'll be around a 780's performance (and then some) and will have definitely saved some money if you buy it used.

If you can find cheap R9 290 or GTX 780 go for it and sell the 670 before it loses more value.

Otherwise, you can pick up another cheap 670 for SLI and wait, or just lower settings and wait without buying anything.

My 2 670s in rig 1 below outperform my single 780 in rig 2 below in benchmarks but the 780 is FAST and smooth. Cheapest route is the 670.

Dang, the prices are just so high for a top end single solution. And I know it's usually the best route. I hear ya about selling it while I can still get a buck out of it.

How is the SLi solution these days? Any caveats?

Some games don't get max performance on day one. Nvidia is pretty quick with performance updates for new games though. You may notice some microstutter but not everyone is bothered enough by it to make a difference, SLI is pretty smooth to me. Some games can only use one card anyway but this is pretty rare. Some games have bugs with SLI or Crossfire enabled like flashing textures or the like. These are usually fixed in a new driver.

All these issues are pretty minor in my experience but can happen.

Oh and I forgot, your cards will run hotter and louder since they circulate hot air in close proximity to another card that is also getting hot. It's not much, but you will likely need a higher fan speed to keep the temps in check.
