I'm trying to figure out how I could split this deal with a friend and buy Rock Band 2 and then exchange it for Guitar Hero World Tour when it releases in 2 weeks. What happens if the prices aren't the same, etc, etc.

Typically in a "buy 2 get 1 free" situation, if the prices aren't the same then the item that costs the least is the one you get free.

eg: if you have a game that is $49.99, one that is $39.99 and one that is $29.99, then you get the $29.99 one free and you pay 89.98 for the other two.

Throwing a cheap game into the mix just to get one free is not going to help get any discounts.

If you want to split this deal with a friend so you can get GH:WT as an exchange, you still have to figure out what the third game is and who gets it.

If the price of Rockband varies from the price of GH:WT then you will pay the difference between the two games when you do the exchange.

FYI, Best Buy (and presumably CC) will price match this. So if the T'R'U shelves are picked over, head to BB/CC.

Great idea! YMMV though, as these stores usually verify that the product is in stock.

I found the easiest way to get games not out yet:

Ask the guy to make whatever game you want free since the other 2 are gifts. He will then give you gift receipts and you'll be able to return the other 2 no problem.

I got Saints Row 2, NBA 2k9 and Force Unleashed; gonna return 2k and FU for Left 4 dead and Lil Big Planet
