THE REHABILITATION CENTER FOR BALLOTS ANONYMOUS:

My name is _______________, I live in Palm Beach County, and I am here today to learn the twelve steps of the Butterfly Ballot Test:

THE BUTTERFLY BALLOT TEST:
In order to fill out the ballot, please read the instructions carefully.

Twelve Steps to Becoming a Better Butterfly Ballot Test Taker in Palm Beach County:

1.First step is admitting the butterfly ballot may be a potential problem.
2.You will see Gore in the second box.
3.The arrow has a #5.
4.The punch hole is above Gore but below Buchanan.
5.The arrow will not align with the punch hole (unlike the ballot you received from home).
6.Traditionally the Republican and Democratic Party are always the first two listed.
7.Ignore this tradition.
8.In the ballot the Reform Party is listed second yet common sense is telling you that traditionally that the Democratic Party should be second in this case
(since the Governor is a Republican, the Republican is correctly listed first, but the Democratic Party is incorrectly listed third, when it should of been
second).
9.Warning depending on your perception of design, it will drastically depend on if you see Gore as second or Buchanan as second.
10.If you take the vertical approach you will see Gore as second on the left hand side. If you take the horizontal approach you will see Buchanan as second
on the right-hand side.
11.You must try not to use your logic or common sense.
12.This ballot is intended for you to analyze and study it for about 30 seconds before you begin.

Other Ballots in Other Counties:
1. Start from the top and commence downward on the left hand side.

Many thanks to SB, who made this up...

If the ballot is confusing, then the ballot is confusing.....saying that a democrat was responsible doesn't mean is was any less confusing.

In fact there was so much confusion in Palm Beach County over the ballot, that a memo was written sometime on election day.

I'm not sure I'd support a re-vote over this though.... some judge in Palm Beach will probably have some tough decisions to make....and then an appeal....another appeal......

Perhaps I could understand confusion over this ballot if the person had a neck cast or some sort of condition that prevented them from moving their eyes to the right hand side of the ballot. Otherwise, it's just stupidity and/or carelessness. Like the guy on Dateline with a 168 IQ who is a welder. Sure. (NOTE: I'm sure there are intelligent welders out there, but as Forrest said, "Stupid is as stupid does.")

If you had doubts about the holes lining up, there was no Republican force field preventing you from pulling the ballot out and checking which number was punched while cross-referencing the booklet's numbers (#5 would be #5, eh?).

Voting is a right. Exercising it with care is the voter's responsibility, not the government's. The age of "not my fault" has reached new proportions with this election.

Hey! You're making people feel stupid. How could you? Don't you think these people have a right to their self-esteem. And there you go trampling all over it.

How could you?!?!?!
