I used to prefer butter until I saw what Marlon Brando did with it in "Last Tango in Paris".

For me - neither.

Butter is animal fat - great for the arteries.

Margarine is hydrogenated oil. No thanks.

I just use a combination of unrefined oils (usually olive and canola).

Butter may have more fats in it, but it doesn't have trans-fatty acids like margarine. Therefore butter won't clog your arteries like margarine will.

But the real question is, do you leave your butter sitting out or do you refridgerate it?

Olean or Olestra? That is the Question...

Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools in some
individuals, and inhibits the body's absorption of certain fat-
soluble vitamins and nutrients," said Commissioner of Food and Drugs
David A. Kessler, M.D. "FDA is requiring Procter & Gamble and other
manufacturers who use olestra to label all foods made with it, and,
to protect the public health, to add essential vitamins -- Vitamins
A, D, E and K -- to olestra."
