busted/ruptured ear drum?

was wakeboarding and took a hard spill and landed on my right ear. as soon as i came up i knew it was busted. i can blow air out of my left ear when i hold my nose. i poured alcohol in it thinking it would help and holy hell did it hurt, i had a few tears from the pain.

i can't hear good in the ear either. i HAVE scheduled a doctor's appt. but was just curious if anyone has gone through this and what the procedure is to make it better.

A blown ear drum leaves you totally deaf. You might have f'd it up but I doubt it's totally blown. I'm not an MD though.

exactly. I'm still scratching my head wondering what kind of other "home remedies" the OP has up his sleeve...

well, actually it wasn't my idea. a lot of people use alcohol to clean their ears and get water out of their ears to prevent swimmer's ear. i didn't want to do it but they assured me it wouldn't hurt. well i let them and oh boy, it hurt.

Actually your doctor will probably just bandage it up and give it time to heal.

Why the hell would you do a home remedy like that? You could of made matters worse by doing that. Go to a doctor, and have your ear examined.

Loosing your hearing is a terrible thing, trust me, I know, you get used to it over time. I have half my hearing gone in my left ear. Good thing is, I can sleep on my good ear, drown out the world. 😀

I had my ear drum rupture when a blister I somehow got on it popped. After it popped there was stuff constantly running out of it and I waited 3 days before mentioning something to my mom.....I just plugged it up with twisted up toilet paper. I could still hear out of it though. Yeah, right before it popped I was in some pretty bad pain so the rupturing was actually a relief. Doctor just gave me some pills.
