Busted PSP

I bought my son a PSP for his birthday back in April. He got in trouble with my wife and she threw it.

So now the PSP looks fine, but locks up whenever a memory stick is inserted. It does play movies just fine though.

Real suggestions? (No, I'm not giving it away...)

trade it in at an unsuspecting eb or gamestop.

I'm sure Wal-Mart would do a trade with it, but I have never had the ethics of some people I know to do such a thing.

Only thing I can think of, if you didn't get a service plan, is to just call up Sony and get it repaired.

That's what I'm thinking. I still have the manual with their number. But has anybody sent them one before? Cost?

I'm sure they can give you a quote or at least an estimate...though I'm sure they'll say it costs $40 for repair, bill you $130 because of something that is special.

Little intricate gadgets, like the PSP, should never be bought without an extended reseller warranty!

i think sony will be nice enough to cover it under the warranty. if the throw was so bad you'd expect the screen or something to crack? but SD slot?

I would put it on Ebay (mentioning the defect of course) and buy another one. Dealing with Sony is a nightmare and takes forever.

get your wife some anger managment classes... I think that's the last thing she needs to be throwing

Walmart receipts contain serial numbers of all consoles they sell. Before returning they will make sure that S/N's match.

My mom has destroyed my brother's XBox and before that the DSL modem. He deserved it though, since he gets terrible grades in school(i.e. very lazy).

Sometimes it takes a little "shock and awe" to remind the kids what they should be focusing on. 🙂

Wow, the most expensive thing I ever threw was a $40 cordless phone... and luckly it still worked... after I put it back together. 😛
