Called Creative tech and for the first time, they said this......his card is not working at all due to being killed by the bad PCI slot.

However,if a Creative product is purchased in America which may
subjected to 30 days warranty but require services from Asia where most
the Creative products has 1 year warranty, the warranty still resumes at
30 days.In other words, users still need to pay for any service charges
when the warranty expires even though it is serviced in Asia.

Regarding you case, the warranty should have been over if it is bought
after 30days from US. In this case, you might need to consider
servicing
it in US or Singapore.

Be mindful, he bought a retail card from someone on AT before going back to Malaysia. He then proceeded to tell them he has a retail card. Now, this is the best reply EVAR. :D

Dear Sir/Madam

Regarding your enquiry, could you try it on a Intel Motherboard. The
reason is from the feedback, intel are much stable.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

:D

Someone burn Creative's headquarters... NOW! This is the kind of crap that keeps AMD on the verge of bankruptcy, moronic 'tech support' that doesn't know an Athlon from a hole in the ground.

I'd say my athlon is far more stable than my p4c.

Did your friend buy the card from you? No wonder it smoked in the motherboard. Did you try it on Intel platform or another test machine to see if it worked?

They just go for a random guy in the street I guess since the only thing you'll see from them is their email reply or voice...

I've dealt with Creative's tech support twice. Both times by phone. Once for a dead original SB Live!, once for an original Encore DVD drive that stopped reading DVD's. I do remember being on hold for a while, but once I got through, the people I spoke to only ran me through very rudimentary troubleshooting which I had already tried myself, before they declared the hardware dead. They offered to ship replacements both times after I shipped back the broken ones, without asking any warranty questions. Both times I got the replacements in a timely fashion, and both parts still work now years later.

I would never recommend email tech support because often you won't even get someone who speaks English natively. Always call them. I had no problems with Creative, you appear to have. As with most things, not everyone has the same experiences.

It's not in US, I believe he called the ones in Singapore itself. I'm not complaining about it but how could they say that it's much stable on Intel platform?

For a lot of people AMD = VIA. There is ample evidence to support that for a considerable amount of time, Creative sound cards worked with fewer problems on the Intel platform than on the AMD platform that was basically only VIA. The view is somewhat dated at this point, but the majority of users out there aren't using completely up to date systems, so the topic likely comes up often for tech support.

Well, his card is dead and he's not having stability issues with his system. His system worked well before that. So I see now reason to not just give him the RMA he requested. If he was having stability issues, that remark would have been called for but this is just...............:Q

call them again and ask them why your creative DVD room is not working. who knows..maybe they will tell u this..

Dear Sir/Madam

Regarding your enquiry, could you try it on a Intel Motherboard + Nvidia graphics card. The
reason is from the feedback, nvidia are much stable than ati

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

OK i think anyone who beleives either intel or amd cpu are unstable cpu should have their forum posting priviledge revoked. Anyone else saying the same should suffer the same for trolling :p

FWIW, my AMD rig, well im using it now. My intel rig doesnt even try to boot. Not too susprising though, since I pulled all the leads on my P200mmx years ago, and have also since harvested the HSF for my graphics card. But hey, it's still AMD 1, Intel 0... ;)

ps. (or rather, going back towards original topic) my audigy just sucked in my w98se system, upgraded OS to XP and its ab fab. their tech support was really appalling though, I'm very reluctant to buy creative stuff again (and this is despite my GF3ti200, CDROM and all previous soundcards being creative)
