Buslink (AOPEN) CDRW Firmware Problem

I got the Buslink 52-24-52 drive when it went on sale and I figured I ought to upgrade the firmware since it was having problems burning. I looked all over checking the aopen site and I thought I had verified that it was the right drive which Aopen listed as their 52-24-52 drive. So i got their firmware and tried to upgrade it, well, no I have a dud I think.

Now here is my real question, what are my options? The product#91.3ED37.025 S/N:25020728JE, I havew another drive just like it, so if upgrading the firmware is not an option then would I be able to get the old firmware off of the other drive, which is the same? Unforetunately buslink doeesn't provide any firmware or real support.

EDIT: A reboot and the orginal firmware is still on, good thing it didn't flash, but is there anyway to upgrade??

If you tried to flash the firmware, and failed, in Windows, then try flashing in pure DOS mode.
Cendyne has a DOS mode firmware flasher on the bottom of this page: Text which is for their AOpen 48/12/50 CDRW. The DOS mode flasher worked for my 48/12/50, whereas the Windows version flasher failed.
So try the DOS mode flash utility, combined with the correct *.bin file for your drive.
Caution: Remove any disc from drive before flashing.

Will that work with the 1.06 firmware, since it has 1.o4? And the other thing is that the flashing utility said it had a different number or something, not at the computer at the moment.

The erro meassage for the aopen software is:
" Cannot update for different Type Code.

*** NG ** NG ** NG ***

Make sure Selected Source File."
