Buslink 32x ( $35) and 40x ($70) at BB (lite-ons)

Wow, I'm surprised that this deal didn't get more interest. I guess most of us already have a burner and are tired of upgrading!

At any rate, I'd just like to say that if the box says "Justlink" Technology, *AVOID IT* at all costs. It's obviously and Aopen Drive. I have a friend that I recommended an Aopen drive to and he is ready to strangle me. He burns SVCD's and all he gets are "Medium Speed" Error messages. He emailed me to say that it took him 12 unsuccessful burns to get 1 good CDR.

Anyway I made it a personal mission to find one of these "Smartburn" Buslink Drives (Lite-on) and low and behold, every Best Buy in my area is sold out. I did manage to find a Best Buy in Montclair, CA with a slew of the 32x, but surprise...they were *all* Aopens. I settled on the 40x Liteon Buslink.

So I just wanted to pass this on as "my" experience with Aopen. If anyone can say differently, please feel free to do so. There's always room for an opposing opinion. 🙂

awesome post!! i picked one up sunday morning for father's day. i didn't want to pick up a second for my girlfriend since its probably one per household. came back monday morning and they were all gone, but he said the truck was coming in Wednesday, so she'll be going in early today to snag one.

Are these drive noisy? I got one, and it's kinda loud vs. my old Cd-rw which I got about 3-4 years ago.

any help would be appreciated!
