BusinessWeek Online article

I see a few slight inaccuracies but it seems like a well-rounded article. DeKalb and the prosecutors sure are keeping their mouths shut tightly. I guess I would too, if I were them. 😉

<< He says he has "very little sympathy" for individuals like McOwen who play outside the lines, even though McNett contends such programs pose no threat to networks or individual PCs. >>

Boy, does this pi$$ me off. :|

So, Chicken McNugget has already determined that Dave is guilty and should spend the next 30 years in prison. Perhaps he's been promised a little kick back from Thurbert after they've divied up the spoils of ruining another man's life. Kiss my a$$, you slimy ba$tard.

:|:|:|

Yep - he didn't learn anything from the last time he opened that cavernous hole in his head.

Hey McNugget - do you ever fscking think before opening that mouth of yours, or do you just pull your comments out of the other end? :|

Still sitting on his seat of judgement - omniscient, omnipotent, judge - jury - executioner.

Amazing how he has all the answers, knows the whole story... :|

After pinging the loser about his next 'gem' - I get this in response:

You have me at a disadvantage, I'm not familiar with the article you are
referencing. It is quite true, however, that I have very little sympathy
for people who run the client without permission and then get caught.
Situations like that are entirely avoidable by simply playing by the rules
and respecting the rights of the people who own the machines.

The only thing unique about the McOwen case is the severeness of the
claims made by the AG's office, which I have trouble finding reasonable if
installing dnetc is the only thing which McOwen has done.

If McOwen did nothing more than install dnetc, I have sympathy for his
having been inappropriately threatened. Of course, we'll have to wait to
see if charges are actually filed, but on its face the penalties he's been
threatened with are excessive for a simple dnetc installation.

If that makes me a prick, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.
You'll never see distributed.net, or myself, come any closer to supporting
someone who has broken the rules and shown a complete disregard for
others' rights.

My observations:

1. He refrained from calling the people that are supporting Dave as unreasonable.

2. <even though McNett contends such programs pose no threat to networks or individual PCs. He estimates that the stress on a PC running the company's software is no more than that of sending one e-mail per day.>

At least he attempted to state that there is minimal impact on PCs/networks by the client.

3. He expounded on his belief that Dave McOwen is guilty! :| un-friggin believable! :|

And here I thought he was under subpeona! Mr. McNett, it is clear you feel that Dave is guilty, but so far there are only allegations, no proof.

You are entitled to your opinion, but if you can't say anything to help Dave, at least keep your trap shut, as you stated you had to in the original post concerning this stuff. :|

Geez, why would Thurbert have to say anything about this case, when you are doing it for him. :|
You certainly sounded like a prosecuting attorney! :|

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
Dave McOwen, don't rely on, or expect Mr. McNett to be of any help at all. He will definitely do anything/say anything to CYA his own butt, no matter the consequences to you or your family.

McOwen is getting better support/comments from other distributed processing projects. And this article at least helped bring those out. 😀

BTW, a police officer here in Columbus is being charged with negligent homicide in his wife's death. Negligent homicide is a 4th degree misdemeanor here. :|

Prosecutor to Jury: "Even the head of the project has publicly condemned this terrible criminal. Allow me to introduce in to evidence Exhibit A; an article from ZDNet, and Exhibit B; an article from Business Week.

To those who eMailed me when I quit this project and asked me if I thought I was doing the right thing: Do you get it now?
