Business SMS Addresses?

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know how to get a short SMS address for people to text stuff to? For example, I want to allow hundreds of people to text me via a short 4-5 digit number, so I can have an automated reply sent back to them. Does anybody know how to get that address?

Thanks for the links. It's actually for work. I work in a call center where schedules shift a lot, and as a result agents conveniently "forget" when they are supposed to work, and come in whenever they way. We've put schedules online, and are presently working on a dial-in phone lookup, but I got the idea that most of our agents are 18-24, and almost all have cells, so being able to text in their employee ID and get their schedule back would be pretty cool.

That's a sweet idea!

Unfortunately the wiki article still requires a 10 digit phone number. While this wouldn't be too horrible, I'd still prefer being able to have a 4-5 digit number.

A cell provider will service those, so you'd have to talk to a phone company that does cellular.
