My brother is looking for a good quality built fast laptop for work and business at home. I think he is leaning towards a Windows machine and he mentioned something about the IBM T450s. I own a 2011 Macbook Pro and to me the build quality is fantastic compared to my mothers windows laptop. I don't think I've ever shopped or looked for a windows laptop for purchase. What are some good windows laptops I could suggest for him? I imagine from the IBM he was talking about that ~ $1600 USD would be the range give or take 15%

Thanks

can stay at $1K, save money, get the best of everything; either ultra portability with the spectre, or advanced graphics simulation with the S3 Yoga.

=HP spectre x360 - i5, 8gb, 256gb SSD = $1K
-12 hours battery life
-extremely dense aluminum unibody
-bright 13.3" IPS touch 1080p
-backlit keys

=Thinkpad Yoga S3 - i5, 8GB, 1tb SSHD = $1K
-6 hours battery life
-nVidia 840m/Intel graphics switchable
-magnesium-alloy
-mechanically recessed keys on tablet mode
-bright 14" IPS touch 1080p
-backlit keys

if budget isn't an issue like you mentioned, X1 or T450s is the way to go. but I'd go with the t450s.
t430s was the last edition of of the t4xx series to retain the separate button zones on the bottom end of the touchpad; but the battery life on the t430s is terrible without the additional ultrabay battery.

Buy a Dell Precision refurbished. They come with 3 year warranties at home/business repair and they're built well for the price.

Dell Precision.

M4800 if he wants a full blown workstation, or an M3800 if he basically wants a MacBook Pro thats designed for Windows.

I really like the M3800 (Many people at work have them) and will be replacing my M4600 with one. I also own a MacBook Pro, but its for home use.
