I assume you're referring to the P-M Sonoma's? Either way, the Sonoma's are nice but not worth it for the casual user. Initial testing done @ the LaptopLogic.com labs shows the new Sony model to have worse battery life than previous incarnations. More details to come soon 🙂
But overall the relatively minor increase in performance doesn't justify the extra price tag that will accompany the Sonoma's for a while. At least that is my opinion until I get to play with one of my own 🙂 ::cough:: T43 😉

"Well, for the next 5 years at least." Explain what that means please!

Navigating Dell Phone support menus is like navagating through a dozen galaxies and 3 black holes worth of menu options. In the end you never get the department you need or intended to get. Well anyways I would recomend a Dell Latitude for Buisnes, stay away from the Inspiron Line they are crap and cheaply made flimsy P.O.S'

I would recomend any thing with a pentium M processor and 855 chipset. Extending your battery life with enhance your productivity.

I would have recomended IBM, but after the lenovo buyout I have to question how good they might be. IBM has done this before with other products like
[*]Mice and Keyboards- Micro Innovations, they are lower in quality than my older IBM manufactured model m keyboard and matching mouse.
[*]Printers- IBM made some nice printers in before lexmark took over.
[*]More to come later, I just forgot what I was about to type.

Here is a cheap dell Pentium M for 700 bucks or so with a free memory upgrade.
