Business geeks! Inc. Magazine any good?

I'm wondering if any of you have ever read or subscribed to this magazine before- thinking about signing up for only 14 bucks a year. I bum my Dad's copies of Forbes when he's done with them and I have a subsc. to Entrepreneur as well. Would I benefit any from Inc. as a startup company owner or am I covered enough with the other two publications?

Best Business Publications:

Harvard Business Review
Strategy + Business
Wall Street Journal
The Economist

The rest IMO are a waste of time.

Steve

Fortune is known for being 'Forbes for liberals'- no thanks. 😉

I'm an avid fan of the Journal, and after I graduate I'll be getting a subscription to it. I'll check out the other ones you mentioned, Steve- thanks!

BAH! THE WSJ IS TRASH! It is basically the NY times with a bigger busibess section.

I read the Financial Times.

as for magazines check out Forbes and Bloomberg.

Take note however, the prices (with the exception of s+b) of the publications I mentioned are quite expensive. However, they offer rare, valuable and unique viewpoints and information that is simply not covered anywhere else. If you wanted the cheap way of being a business geek - do this:

1. Google News! - check it every day - several times a day. They will cover the same news as WSJ and other daily newspapers with a wider varieity of reporting and no bias.

2. Strategy+Business - It covers the same issues as HBR, but less frequently, and more in depth. I consider it by far the higher quality publication. The website has all of the articles available for free!

3. The Economist - Impossible to beat for its coverage of important issues around the world. It covers issues in-depth, and offers an objective view. Well worth the price ($129 a year).

forbes is fairly good its just pushes the jesus angle a little to hard for my tastes

Gads! $129 a year for The Economist?! :Q Does it come daily or something? In which case it might be worth it. Or maybe not and it just really is that good...

Finding a cheap way of being a business geek is right up my alley- I'm a business student that hasn't graduated yet and I'm on a budget. I check Google News everyday already- pretty cool site! I added S+B to my Favorites list. Thanks, man.

Anybody have any other suggestions? Anty up.

The Economist is a weekly newspaper. Check your library for copies - they should have a subscription.

Good call. I keep forgetting about that library thing. 😀 They do carry the WSJ though, I know. Why I don't go there to drink coffee and just read business papers for just an hour a day instead of sleeping in and neffing all the time is beyond me.

What do you want the magazine for?

Do you want it for investment tips? or to help you run your small business? or to help you with ideas?

I don't find the need for the harvard reviews for business ideas, but i do use it for business strategies.

I like Inc. Magazine because it is tailored to the small business, or the entrepreneur per say.

I like all business mags, they are just fun to read. I love reading aobut people's success.

I'm looking for small business ideas and strategies, and yes I'm an entrepreneur. If Inc. is geared toward me, it might be worth looking at then... and hey, it's only 14 bucks. Hmm...
