Why is everyone sticking it hard to Bush about his public speaking skills?? "I miss Clinton's speeches" attitude is downright confusing me! I would personally have a competant president who is mute then a lousy one who can yack it up all day long. Public speaking abilities of a president rank very low on my list of qualifications for a good president.

shadowhunter,

Because they equate speaking with intelligence. No one has yet to question Stephen Hawking intellect because of his speech issues.

For the most part it is Democrats and to be more pointed Liberals making fun of him. You see they cannot discuss policy or the dismal failure of most of the policies they've managed to get instituted, so they have to use personal attacks.

It's kinda like giving a kid a plastic sand shovel and telling him to take down the Lincoln Memorial. He looks up, and knows it's impossible, but "damn it, I'm gonna try" attitude.
Then folks walk buy and here's the little kid flailing away at the huge concrete monument cussing and carrying on. They just shake their heads and go about their business.....
That's kinda like what the detractors of Bush seem like to me.:D

Yeah, I wish we had a competant president too.

There's a BIG difference between having a physical hindrance in speaking properly, and a mental hindrance in speaking properly! If Bush had a motor neuron disease, people wouldn't make a big deal about it.

I've started to really like Bush. I do wish he wouldn't repeat himself so much, and I wish he'd drop the damn word "evil-doers" from his vocabulary, but he's an affable guy. He seems like the most approachable president I've ever known, and I feel he's sincere. It's quite a change (at least in my generation).
