Sounds like a guy was operating outside the bounds of his authority. From what it sounds like, also sounds like Bush let him know he was in the wrong too.

I'm sure this will be spun way out of proportion and everyone will, as usual, blame Bush. Figured I'd post it so I could see the trainwreck :D

Uh, yeah, that's a pretty bad thing. And I will blame Bush for having a weapon pointed at peaceful protestors unless he immediately fires the guy pointing the weapon and apologizes unconditionally to the Floridians.

But when has Bush ever apologized? I'm not holding my breath.

this is the only facts we have so far and its one side of the story.

From an intern for Congressional candidate John Russell (FL-5):
Here is my full story, with everything correct. As you know I am interning with John Russell, a candidate in District 5 running against Ginny Brown-Waite. We went to the protest to make sure bush heard about the problems with Medicare Part D. As the President drove by John was delivering his message to the President, who was looking at us out the window. I don't remember if it was before or after the President's car, but inside on of the black suv's was a man holding, what looked to be, an automatic rifle out the window. It was pointed at the protesters. I am glad to hear that the people on the other side of the street saw this too. Those of us on the corner I was on couldn't believe that this had occurred, and John proceeded to tell President Bush as he got out of the motorcade, 'how dare you point a weapon at civil protesters' among other things. It was a very interesting day for me, being the first time I have ever seen the President, and the first time I have been directly threatened by the President. hopefully this helps in lining up the stories. Please send this out to everyone, and keep the talk growing. I want to know if this is standard operating procedure for the Bush motorcade, or a one time thing.
*******************************
It is somewhat vague on details though?
The part I bolded does not say how he was getting his message across? Was he holding up a sign, banging on the presidents window?? exactly how was he delivering this message?

An agent holding out what appears to be a gun either before or after the presidents car sounds a little funny too? need more facts.
Although It does not make a lot of sense since the president is in a bullet proof limo?
Story just sounds a little odd.

I misread the article!
Sounds like someone else told Bush it was bad form to point weapons at protestors.

Damnit, see what happens when I skim through an article.

On the flip side, I wonder what will come of it. I cant imagine its good form to have your security detail randomly pointing weapons at people. Bastards better be careful, Florida is a CCW state that allows use of deadly force to protect yourself.
Imagine the sh1tstorm if someone decided to use that right when it happened!

I agree it sounds odd. Normally the security detail guys are very behind the scenes.

umm was this a planned thing? that the candidate would come up and deliver a message that is.

You'd think anyone coming up to the president that secret service are not informed of are tackled and have guns pointed at them. during times of war or not.

I'm not too sure about the impartiality of an article that calls the President's security detail "goons." Has this been reported anywhere else?

In Florida the people are authorized to shoot back if they feel threatened....

This could have got ugly. (unlikely but......)

I seriously doubt they made that apply to government officials.

Look, we must all understand that this is not a pre-screned crowd. And there may be all manner of terrorists consealed in the
throngs of humanity.

But in a worst case senario------gasp----someone in the crowd might actually be a registered democrat.---clearly all manner of displayed firepower in the form of automatic weapons is clearly justified to deter such antisocial types from disturbing GWB.

After all and think about it folks---what would happen to us all if GWB ever got the notion that he was less than univerally loved.-------he might become very angry. No one angers a God or God's messengers with inpunity.--this could escalate at any minute-------just wait until he tells Uncle Dick--and we all know Dick Cheney shoots first and asks questions later. Lucky for that crowd that the VP was not along.

If they have such tactless jerkoffs in the SS perhaps the Mr Bush isn't as safe as I thought.

I would need to see the situation before I could determine if the crowd was threatening them or not. Which is mandatory to judge their response by.

Of course, feel free to jump straight to your hate filled conclusions.
