Bush really messed up here. First he came out and said he was giveing Amnesty for all 3 million illegal mexican immigrants but when the public reacted, he stepped back saying their were "qualifications" Now President Fox of Mexico wants the amnesty for the illegals by the end of the year.

The only good thing to come out of this is to see that 67% Americans are very against the amnesty:

Americans Clearly Oppose Amnesty for Illegal Mexican Immigrants

O'Reilly reported Friday that even 51% of Mexican Americans are against it.

And they should be. Anyone who went through the red tape process of becomeing an American citizen should be outraged at this purely political move that backfired.

<< Now President Fox of Mexico wants
Who gives a flying fsck!

People who live down here in the southwest. And people who are conscerned about depleting school and medical resources given to illegal immigrants.

Perhaps when you get out on your own, you will see it yourself.

I guess you don't know what my post meant. :|

Why is Bush in bed with Mexico to such an extent? I know Texas borders with Mexico but what (besides tons of drugs) do we get out of the deal?

Why would Fox want his citizens to come to America? Is this a sign of Mexico trying to get back land they lost in 1801?

Well, it's more than just 1801. I believe 1801 is when the US made the Louisana Purchase. A lot of that land was former Mexico (or Spanish) territory, but the French were able to nab it. Napoleon didn't want it, so Jefferson bought it. Then there was the Spanish-American War of ... 1821 (?). Eventually the US got more and more of Mexico's land.

Still, the idea of Fox wanting Mexicans who left his country to go to the US to have citizenship sounds a little insidious to me.

Yeah I was just curious. And dont forget the lower half of Arizona and New Mexico the US bought from Mexico in the latter 1800s

unless they're still willing to work for $.50 an hour, this isn't gonna work. I don't think our economy could handle the job market being flooded with extremely low wage workers, because let's face it, if you are a doctor or a scientist, you didn't have to swim across the river. I'm really unsatisfied with Bush so far, and I hate that sh*tty little smirk he wears.

This is a terrible move. Many of the immigrants from Mexico are poorly educated people willing to work for crap wages. If they're used to getting a taco for a day's work and now are making minimum wage of $6 they'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Meanwhile other US low-income earners will find they have even less bargaining power for wages. Plus a lot of these workers will send money back to their family in Mexico and it won' t be spent in the US...kinda like what I'm doing with my wife in Canada :)

The reason Fox wants this done is that those Illegal Aliens are sending home *millions*. He doesn't want them sent back. Why, Mexico's economy is very weak. Bush is in a bad spot. If he says hell no, why should people who break the law get a break while honest immigrants have to wait, he'll look like a prick to the hispanics and lose lots of votes. But, if he says yes, the the honest immigrants will say hey what about me, why do I have to do all this paperwork and wait forever, he'll lose even more votes.
His position sucks IMO. What do you decide? Have an actual opinion rather that stating Bush is stupid. 'Tards.

b/c his wife is mexican!!!!
to get some, you gotta give up some
:D

AND what really irritates me is that fox wants amnesty for his citizens, yet in mexico city, many illegal aliens arrive from africa, romania, and other east european countries...and what happens to them? they are put in jail and they don't even have access to lawyers....
Fox is very clever. If the mexicans are legalized, that means they will be sending back lots of money to their family in mexico, which means more dollars being infused in the mexican economy, and more money for the wealthy. Why can't fox concentrate on having goddamn better jobs or working conditions for his citizens instead of making other countries solved his problem???
