Makes me sick

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush and first lady Laura Bush will not attend the graduation ceremonies of their twin daughters later this month in order to avoid disruptions for families of the other graduates, the White House announced Thursday.

Jenna Bush is an English major at the University of Texas at Austin, while Barbara Bush is majoring in humanities at Yale University.

White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said the president and first lady decided to spare families the rigorous security measures that go along with a presidential visit.

"They want the focus to be on the graduates and their families and not how long they're going to have to wait to go through the metal detectors," he said.

Maybe they just don't want to disrupt the event.

Maybe they realize that graduation ceremonies are long pointless wastes of time.

Maybe it is none of the publics business what the family does.

Sounds quite sensible to me.:) The graduations aren't about Bush - they are for the graduates and their families - why turn it into a spectacle that takes the focus away from the graduates?

Frankly I'm glad. I have to attend a lot of my friends graduations at UT and the last thing I want is to be inconvenienced by that slag. An English major at UT? What a go getter. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Viva UT Biz!

I'm not going to my college graduation, though my parents might want to come... I might just ask them to come up and hang out in Seattle for a week; I would imagine the Bush girls aren't that far off in sentiment.

How is an English degree illegitimate and what place do you have to say that?
