funny how in november the democrates were able to change canidates AFTER the designated time and they are not even changing the law with over a year in advance. If that isn't partisan politics then nothing is.

That's dumb, but expected, seeing as how the parties have never done each other any favors. Is there some reason Republicans can't move their convention up by a couple of days? It's not like it's a mystery who their candidate will be.

Exactly the point ;) The partisan Democrats are trying to block any change of the states deadline JUST so it would keep Bush off the ticket.

I do agree that maybe the Convention planners should have thought about the timing though. I'm sure they did though and probably made a calculated risk call on it:p

It will be interesting to see how it turns out though.

Democrats. BTW, I am just telling you who runs the state. I am not saying they are supreme idiots.

The pork barrel stuff gets passed in Congress anyway. They'll get theirs like any other state. It's not like Bush isn't going to sign something just because Alabama benefits from it. Chances are he'll also be cutting out favors to 20 other states too.

He is wildly popular. He should run on a ticket with Charles Barkley.

"Bush received 56.4 percent of the vote in Alabama in 2000 to 41.6 percent for former Vice President Al Gore, a Democrat. Republicans have carried Alabama in the last six presidential elections."

I wouldn't worry

This is a moot point. Alabama is a strong Republican state in Presidental races. It probably has not gone Democratic since perhaps Johnson or FDR. The ONLY way Bush will lose Alabama is he is caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl as the saying goes.

The 2004 Olympics are in Greece

How is that a conflict with the Republican National Convention

Anyways, couldn't the Alabama Republican people just put Bush in
before the National Convention is held... I'm sure there is a 99.9% chance
he's going to be that Party's nomination

well it serves the Republicans right for having the convention/nomination so late in the year

they need to be more prompt

it isn't rocket science to know when it is too late in the game to put people on ballots

like what the democrates did in new jersey in the november elections?
They broke the deadline and by more than a couple of weeks and with almost no time for the state to plan. Now the republicans are asking for 3 days with a year ahead of time and the democrates won't budge. Does anyone else see this BS partisan politics.

I think Bush will loose Alabama if you need to write to cast a vote.

That was a totally unplanned event. This obviously has months of preparation.

Stop comparing apples with oranges.

You Republicans have been garnering quite an unfavorable reputation for conveniently justifying your lame actions.

It will get changed. Not having Bush on the ballot will swamp the system with write-ins and they will do anything to avoid that.

I wouldn't worry

But without him on the ballot, the Republicans will have to rely on Alabaman's ability to write. :)

Which is better than NC's...

Isn't all this flaming a bit premature? The Democrat-controlled legislature hasn't voted yet.

But I agree with those who think that the Democrats will demonstrate their belief in partisanship over accomplishment if they fail to pass this law. I just hope nothing silly gets attached as a rider.
