I generally vote democrat but I think it's pretty cool that he went over there to thank the troops. One of the few actions of our president that I can agree with.

Nice publicity coup, I will grant him that. Good morale boost, too. Gotta wonder how far down he went, though, if he actually congradulated the grunts or just hobnobbed with the brass. Article isn't exactly clear as to what strata of the military was there.

Also another nice attempt to mirror his father, I must admit. (Witness the end of the article.) If it served to better morale of those stationed there, though, I still applaude the move.

You could make a positive comment about the visit. I think it a good idea, and I dislike Bush immensely.

Perhaps for one day people could avoid political sniping, but I doubt it.

Wow I bet he made the decision to go there himself as I wouldn't think his advisors would want to put him in harms way. OOn second thought though if something happened to him then the Neocons Boy,DICK Cheney would be in charge and we would really be up the creek.

Yes. I suspect a lot of "God dammit, I'm the commander in chief. If you stupid whiners won't help, I'll get the military to do it" was involved.
