Bush protects presidential seal from satire site
Could lead to the collapse of the West

Bush is worried that people might think that the briefing is his words and not a joke. It is easy to see how such confusion could happen. One of the latest headlines, for example, was "Bush to Appoint Someone to Be in Charge of Country".

The Onion editor in chief, Scott Dikkers, said that the letter was a waste of taxpayer's money which would be better spent giving government grants to satirists.

. . . . isn't funny.

Not when Bush tries it. But c'mon....everyone else seems to have a pretty good grip on it.

Did anyone else think that the person impersonating Bush on the Onion's radio address was one of the worst ever? If people are fooled into thinking that that guy sounds like Bush and the message is for real.....they deserve what they get.

It is not too hard to imagine why GWB would think people might be easily confused between reality and fantacy. After all, he has substituted one for the other regularly in the last 5 years.

Haven't a million and one shows on TV done this before? Ferrell, Carvey, Hammond and many others on SNL, the Conan O'Brien guy that does the through the mouth skits etc? Is it because its a radio that they presume people might not be able to differentiate between Bush and an impersonator? It's not a reading of War of the Worlds, but hey who knows.

Bush vx. The Onion, eh? One is little but one lame, scarcely believable joke after another, the other is an on-line humor magazine.

Isn't satire excplicitly protected when it comes to ambiguous use of IP?
(if not, how has SNL managed to last this long?)
