Is this just the greatest coincidence in the world? Any news that negatively reflects on the Bush administration or the war on terror is immediately followed (within a few days) by a terror alert.

No WMDs found? Orange alert.

Misleading intelligence about Iraq? Terror threat against mass transit.

Are Americans tired of having terror used as a tool for political gain? I think the 2006 elections answered that question.

Terror alerts are worthless. They were put into place to cover the governments ass in case something happens, thats why the alert level has never dropped below yellow (significant risk of terrorist attack).

Watching now. It's rehashing (though that's not a kind word) what I have come to understand about this administration in recent years, that it has consistently and actively deceived and misguided the general public in "the war on terror" and that incompetence and insidiousness is not the exception, but the norm. Some still don't believe it even when you put Powell's speech in front of them with its yellow cake and chemical trucks, but these people are like computers with no hard drive space left; they cannot learn anymore and are stuck repeating the same instructions over and over.

Well Americans won't give up their freedoms, or allow our elected officials to give up our freedoms if we are not made to fear everything.

Fearing the government is the cure for fearing terror?

Fearing the government is the cure for fearing terror?

You can call it "fearing" the government. I call it "not trusting" the government. Especially this administration.

So your attitude towards the terrorists is the same as the Bush administration. I think you are finally waking up, TLC.

Can't attack the message, so you attack the messenger?

Where have I seen this before...

I never have trusted Bush. That doesn't mean I have to beat him down at every turn.

I don't trust Hillary either. But if she ends up being president I will still support those things she does that I agree with. Unlike many in here I can separate my politics from my displeasure.

Considering that the first head of DHS is on record as stating that he was overruled on raising the terror level (he said not to raise it, and was overruled), this should come as no surprise to anyone.

When the head of homeland security says to not raise it, their aren't too many people that are above him to overrule him
*cough* Bush *cough*

You know... when Clinton was President every time he got in trouble he would find an excuse to bomb someone.

Look at the impeachement time line and our bombings of Iraq, Kosovo, Sudan etc.

There must be a reason behind this. Perhaps the pressure of other things makes them more likely to resort to bombings and the like.

I am sure it is not due to active reasons as much as other pressures that make them more likely to act in a certain way.

Very true.

Maybe we should have some sympathy for Bush.

When he fucks up, we should just pat him on the head and say, "its ok, Georgie, we know you're under a lot of stress. It's hard being president."

Ahhh...the good old "two wrongs make a right" defense.

No thank you, I just see two wrongs, with no excuse for either one of them.
