Sorry, he arrived before I had a chance to get out of there.

There was a small plane crash the previous night in the parking lot and I thought all the activity was due to that but I was mistaken.

All this is at Centennial Airport, I believe it is the busiest General Aviation airport in the Country.

10-11-2006 Bush says U.S. won't attack North Korea

WASHINGTON - President Bush called Wednesday for stiff sanctions on North Korea for its reported nuclear test and asserted that the United States has "no intentions of attacking" the reclusive regime.
===================================

Oh sure, perfectly OK to attack Countries like Iraq & Afghanistan that don't have WMD but hands off North Korea that actually fires them up.

And how would go about tackling NK without have a major repercussion against our allies and possibly our economy?

Our economy is already suffering the major repurcussions of an unjustified war in Iraq, why not toss in North Korea too?

The U.S. military is stretched too thin to tackle another war; especially one provoked by NK.

4 more years! 4 more years!

They can't be serious about this, the Army won't survive.

Sure if they keep lowering the standards and bending even those lowered standards to allow unqualified applicants.

They are losing most of their quality middle tier comm and noncomm officers, which is putting the long term future of the Army and it's leadership in jeopardy.

Bingo

"The Army has been criticized for raising the allowable age for recruits to 42, from 35. General van Antwerp said no more than 500 new soldiers were in that category.

The Army also raised the limit on the percentage admitted into the service from the lower aptitude ranking, increasing the percentage to the Defense Department limit of 4 percent of recruits from 2 percent.

General van Antwerp said the decision allowed the acceptance of some otherwise qualified recruits whose deficiency was in English-language skills, not mental aptitude.

Some recruits also signed up after the Army waived criminal records that would have previously barred them. The Army said waivers would not be granted in cases of a pattern of offenses, as well as for people convicted of drug trafficking and sexual crimes."

Looks like they may have nabbed a Terrrist here in the States:

11-16-2006 Airport arrest turns up $78,000 cash, nuclear and cyanide info

DETROIT - A man was arrested at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after officials say they found him carrying more than $78,000 in cash and a laptop computer containing information about nuclear materials and cyanide.

Sisayehiticha Dinssa, an unemployed U.S. citizen, was arrested Tuesday after a dog caught the scent of narcotics on cash he was carrying, according to an affidavit filed in court.

When agents asked him if he had any cash to declare, he said he had $18,000, authorities said. But when agents checked his luggage, they found an additional $59,000. When they scrolled through his laptop, they said they found the mysterious files.

Dinssa, who is from Dallas, arrived in Detroit from Nigeria by way of Amsterdam and was headed for Phoenix, Feller said. He is charged with concealing more than $10,000 in his luggage, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, the Detroit Free Press reported.
===================================
Not many people know about the $10,000 cash law.

It also applies to your car as well.

If you are caught with more than $10,000 in your car you go to jail and the Government keeps your money.

Good for catching him if he had devious intent, the cash law is stupid btw. I have had upto $5k in cash on me at one time (in my car), I wasn't doing anything unlawful though. Makes me wonder how many millionaires get arrested for having too much pocket change on their persons.

Looks like this law, which applies to interstate / international travel.

Him and his minions have been spending like drunken sailors the last 6 years and now he asks the new kids on the block to quit it?

1-3-07 Bush urges Congress to sharply cut pork spending

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Wednesday he'll submit a five-year budget proposal that will balance the federal budget by 2012 and called on Congress to sharply cut back on costly pet projects hidden in spending bills.

"It's time to set aside politics and focus on the future," Bush said in the Rose Garden after a meeting with his Cabinet

"Congress has changed," Bush said. "Our obligations to the country haven't changed."

So you complain about the old guard but it is Ok for the new guard to perform the same way?

Is it wrong for the Republicans to salt the budget with pork but OK for the Dems.

Wrong is wrong. Excusing wrong because of color is just as bad.

I certainly don't disagree that it's wrong, no matter WHO does it, after all, it's OUR fvcking money, NOT theirs...

But, why was it OK for the repigs to spend, spend, spend, and hide all kinds of appropriations in other bills that were important enough to pass, even with the hidden pork, yet all of a sudden, he wants the Dems to stop it? THAT sounds pretty hypocritical to me...
Personally, I'd like to see the entire process of "Hidden Pork" get stopped. Make ALL bills pertain ONLY to the matter at hand, no more hiding sh!t in them like some kind of political pinata...

Yeah, it's wrong. Yet, Bush saying this is like the wolf telling the hens not to eat meat.

See, the big thing now is that they know they have f'd up badly, so they are looking to point the finger at the Dems in any way possible.

For a guy to increase our national debt 50% in 6 years after being handed a balanced budget and then to lecture somebody else on fiscal responsability is beyond stupid.

Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the robot one more test. He heads out and returns, the robot serves him and asks, "What's your IQ?" The man replies, "Er, 50, I think."

And the robot says... real slowly..."So........ya gonna vote for Bush again?"

Hypothetically, there could be some logic to this:

* Bush wants to cut spending, but with Republican control of both houses, he is put in the awkward position of having to veto Republican spending bills and lose support for the programs that he wants pushed through. So Bush never vetoes any spending bills in 6 years (I believe this is correct, but a citation would provide proof).
* With Democrat control of congress, Bush has a far better chance of "compromising" (in theory) on spending cuts. And Democrats can use the spending cuts as further proof they should have total control in '08.

All this hypothetically, of course. And if Democrats get full control in '08, there'd be no political reason for them to cut spending.
