The reason the chart looks like that is mainly liberal policies as well as demographics. In fact the progressive tax system alone is the main reason there is such a disparity between red and blue states.![]()
People always want to pay less taxes, live with the benefits of a first world country AND want to reduce the deficits. ROFL, yeah and I want unicorns and rainbows too
1. The progressive tax system means that states with higher cost of living and thus higher pay rates also provide more income tax to the government.
2. Progressive created and favored welfare programs such as Medicaid and school lunch programs etc also favor states with lower average incomes by providing them with more handouts.
3. The movement of retirees from high cost of living northern states to lower cost of living southern states means that more money goes to those states in the form of Social Security and Medicare.
4. Red states traditionally provide a larger portion of our military services than blue states and thus more money is spent in red states on military retirement benefits as well as the cost of caring for vets.
