Wait, Bush didn't know Cheney and Rumsfeld were neocons like his brother Jeb?

Of course he has to blame somebody else. No one wants to admit their son is an idiot or a bully.

Dude, what's with the racism?

It's not racist numnut. Mongoloid is a term that refers to a mentally retarded baby who is born deformed and appears to have mongoloid features.

So to make it simple, he is referring to Bush as mentally retarded.

if I am misrepresenting his remarks, he may correct my mistake.

Wait - does this mean Bush Sr. is a Liberal since he is criticizing the Wubba Era?

Remember, it is BAD to bring up Wubba's fuck ups - filthy Liberals always looking to validate themselves by bring up someone else's screw ups.

senseamp understands this - he was just joking, since I was supposedly noting what he felt (in jest) was Wubba's nationality.

Then again, I most likely misspelled the slang term for mentally retarded.

Mongoloid /ˈmɒŋ.ɡə.lɔɪd/[1][2] is the general physical type of some or all of the populations of East Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Eastern Russia, the Arctic, the Americas, parts of the Pacific Islands, and parts of South Asia. Individuals within these populations often share certain associated phenotypic traits, such as epicanthic folds (epicanthus), sinodonty and neoteny.

The term "mongoloid" was introduced by early ethnology primarily to describe various central and East Asian populations, one of the proposed three major races (Caucasoid, Mongoloid, Negroid) of humanity. Although some forensic anthropologists and other scientists continue to use the term in some contexts (such as criminal justice), the term mongoloid is now considered derogatory by most anthropologists due to both its association with disputed typological models of racial classification and the connotations of its independent use in reference to Down Syndrome and associated intellectual disabilities.

So...

He stated that they both took too hard of a turn post 9/11

Cheney and Rummy wanted to invade Iraq post Kuwait, as far as I know, Sr. would not go that route.

Jr. wanted to be a war President though, so post 9/11 he was all for it.

Seems Daddy Bush is getting old enough he's finally doing the Lee Atwater, "I want to confess my evil ways and repent at the end of my life" thing.

Nothing new to see here, other than why the electorate have been propping them up in office for so long.

Enough of that, not going to write a wall.

Bush Sr. stated in the text that he thought Rumsfield and Cheney went too far after 9/11. He also stated that he felt Rumsfield had too much power for a VP

Jeb:
"But George would say, this was under my watch, I was commander-in-chief, I was the leader, and I accept personal responsibility for what happened, both the good and the bad."

What George W Bush actually said:

"I'm the decider"

So it's kind of the same thing;)

Not many people know the real truth, including me, but I've always had at least a little sympathy for W, and I do believe Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Rice had a very substantial, very negative impact on the administration.

I think it's where they wanted to go all along, ever since GHWB blunted their ambitions at the end of GW1.

Cheney was GHWB's appointee & acted accordingly at the time. He was GWB's mentor & guide to Washington. Rumsfeld was his guy, not GWB's. The latter position carried a lot more power, particularly with a president who wanted to invade Iraq right from the beginning. GWB said "find me a way". 9/11 was the way.

You are going to get slapped for lack of comment...

My $.02

What took him so long? We knew this stuff a long time ago.

Isn't this an indictment of his son?

Why can't Jeb get out there and tell some of this truth or is daddy covering for him?

The "lack of commentary" thing should only apply when the content is quoted, right? We should be able to discuss it here without the OP contributing but, legally, quoting something copyrighted is OK if you are doing it for commentary (Fair Use). I've always assumed that was the logic for P&N expecting commentary but that logic doesn't apply here where there is no quote.

Cheney and Rumsfeld didn't decide to press for an invasion of Iraq AFTER 9/11, they'd been pushing to go back for years BEFORE 9/11, they did however capitalize on 9/11 to persuade the nation it was necessary.

Cheney was the real power in the WH through 2007 and it was only in the last two years the Dubya woke up enough to actually chose a different path then the one Cheney advised.

That Cheney was the puppet master was known by anyone with at least one functioning brain cell -- took Sr a while to admit this...
