1. Saddam wasn't planning a war, was he?
He has attacked two nations in the past, what reasons do you have to think he has turned over a new leaf?

Is North Korea planning a war?
No, they are just crazy.

Is Russia?
Russia is at war right now in Chechnia

These are some of the few nations that produce weaponry.
Most nations in the world produce weapons...

Or do you mean WMD?

3. I disagree with your statement that the UN lacks backbone.
12 years...

12 years of being ignored...

Would the UN like to give Saddam another 12 years to comply with his Gulf War obligations?

If what the UN says means nothing, then why should anyone else in the world listen to the UN?

Maybe they believe that he wasn't a threat because he has been relatively calm since the Gulf War?
If that is your standard for all this, then further conversation is moot. If you can't see that he is an evil man and should be made to account for his mid-deeds, then what is there left to say?

Go look up hegemony. I don't think you know what the word means.

EDIT: and No, Mirriam Webster's defintion isn't satisfactory. Go find Antonio Gramsci's definition, who by the way, introduced it to modern thought.

Why does everyone hate bush? I think he's a somewhat smart guy, and Im happy he's going after Saddam. It needed to be done.

don't get me wrong, i strongly despise the premise of a dictatorship. and i don't necessarily hate bush but i do think he has a chip on his shoulder in how he thinks that u.s.a. is the centre of the universe and can DICTATE to other countries. hmm.

Its called hegemony. As the sole remaining superpower we have a duty to the world to keep the peace.

Oh how quaint. Too bad it never works out that way.

March 18th, bombs will start dropping and cruise missles will start firing. I can assure you that right now, every one of our vehicles is topping off it's tanks for the roll through the desert. March 18th is a full moon, that is when we will strike.

I'm still betting on the 22nd, as I have since mid-December. GW won't want to disappoint his S&B buddies.
