How the hell do you refute this? In his own words. Lies every one of them. Lies.

"Right now, Iraq is expanding and improving facilities that were used for the production of biological weapons."
United Nations Address
September 12, 2002
"Iraq has stockpiled biological and chemical weapons, and is rebuilding the facilities used to make more of those weapons."
"We have sources that tell us that Saddam Hussein recently authorized Iraqi field commanders to use chemical weapons -- the very weapons the dictator tells us he does not have."
Radio Address
October 5, 2002
"The Iraqi regime . . . possesses and produces chemical and biological weapons. It is seeking nuclear weapons."
"We know that the regime has produced thousands of tons of chemical agents, including mustard gas, sarin nerve gas, VX nerve gas."
"We've also discovered through intelligence that Iraq has a growing fleet of manned and unmanned aerial vehicles that could be used to disperse chemical or biological weapons across broad areas. We're concerned that Iraq is exploring ways of using these UAVS for missions targeting the United States."
"The evidence indicates that Iraq is reconstituting its nuclear weapons program. Saddam Hussein has held numerous meetings with Iraqi nuclear scientists, a group he calls his "nuclear mujahideen" - his nuclear holy warriors. Satellite photographs reveal that Iraq is rebuilding facilities at sites that have been part of its nuclear program in the past. Iraq has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes and other equipment needed for gas centrifuges, which are used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons."
Cincinnati, Ohio Speech
October 7, 2002
"Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent."
State of the Union Address
January 28, 2003
"Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised."
Address to the Nation
March 17, 2003

They weren't really lies because Bush had his fingers crossed.

Who crossed them for him?

Or how about this quote from July 14, 2003:

"The larger point is, and the fundamental question is, did Saddam Hussein have a weapons program? And the answer is, absolutely. And we gave him a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in. And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power, along with other nations, so as to make sure he was not a threat to the United States and our friends and allies in the region. I firmly believe the decisions we made will make America more secure and the world more peaceful."

Remarks by the President and United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in Photo Opportunity The Oval Office

Um...could've sworn those UN inspectors were IN Iraq doing their jobs...and left only when it was apparent Bush wasn't going to give them the time they needed to complete it.

Technically he wasn't lying. He just reads the speeches he doesn't actually think about them. How can you expect the President to know all the facts . . . that's what he has a staff for . . . to tell him what to think and what to say. Rogue and incompetent elements in the administration are responsible for any past, present, or future misinformation from President Bush.

He just reads the speeches he doesn't actually think about them.

I wish I could believe that he were simply a mouthpiece. Knowing he did what he did out of ignorance is preferable to believing that he knowingly and deliberately misled the American public to gain support for his war.

In either case, if his argument was that he simply read the speech that was prepared for him, maybe they shouldn't have played up the level of his involvement in the writing of the State of the Union speech:

State of the Union: Behind the Scenes

Sketching notes in the margin of speech drafts, President Bush rewrites portions of the address in the Oval Office Jan. 23, 2003.

President Bush gives his speechwriting team a few points after revising the State of the Union Address in the Oval Office Jan. 23, 2003.

President Bush reviews the text with Director of Presidential Speechwriting Michael Gerson in the Oval Office, Jan. 23, 2003.

After days of revisions and rehearsals, President Bush reads through his State of the Union speech during a late afternoon practice session in the family theater of the White House Monday, Jan. 27, 2003.

Techincally they're not lies because technically, his intelligence sources technically led him to believe the technicalities.

I see you understand the price of awakening from your dream. THE ENDS DO NOT JUSTIFY THE MEANS

The blood, as always is on the war-monger's hands.

"Their Corpses" are the corpses created by the "baseless accusations" the pathological conspiracy-mongerers seek to deny they made... You see... the pushers for the invasion created the conspiracy between Iraq and whomever fit the bill... the accusation of WMD and exigent circumstances was created by the folks pushing for the invasion of Iraq... not the peacefull lillies swaying in the Kansas Tornado..
